The LTA handles are mostly managed by our absolutely amazing #Kentuckybased student interns. We believe deeply in the power of #workbasedlearning. Help us celebrate their growth and leadership!
Teachers! @NatGeoEducation wants to record your pandemic experiences in the annals of twitter history. Just use #BothAndStories to tell them and the world what's on your mind!
We are incredibly excited at the prospect of Kentucky's expanding expert workforce! I think school's unique position as a culture center around the state makes us well suited for the kind of growth that @prichardcom is talking about. #reimagineed
49.4% of KY adults ages 25-64 held a college degree or certificate in 2019, moving up steadily from 43.6% in 2015. If we sustain that rate of improvement over the coming years, we will reach our ambitious 2030 goal of 60% attainment for a #BigBoldFuture!

As someone who has been grouped into the "gifted and talented" subset since a young age, I've seen directly the shortcomings of such an early classification. @educationweek speaks to some of my concerns, and proposes a new model: edweek.org/teaching-learning…
"Educators must recognize that America’s talent pool is changing. If scholars and educators are to remain true to the purpose of producing the next generation of leaders... they must explore ways of going beyond traditional metrics and norms."
The Kentucky Education Reform Act was signed into law 31 years ago today. While we celebrate what it achieved, we cannot let past success deter the reforms we need now. We must ensure every student has an adequate and equitable education and are empowered to be active citizens.
I think teachers and students have known for a long time that #PBL gets students across the board more engaged in their learning, so I applaud this new study from GLEF and @edutopia for justifying our theory!

At times it can be hard to find a positive light to cast on the situation that has unfolded over the past year. Yet, the recent 2021 ARPA shows promise, with its unparalleled amount of funding delineated to public education. @LPI_Learninglearningpolicyinstitute.org/…
The new stimulus bill "can launch a new norm that ensures digital capacity, expanded learning time, and social, emotional, and academic supports within community schools" at our legislators' discretion. Let's get them to step up! #reimagineedlearningpolicyinstitute.org/…
It's wonderful that some educational programs are finally going to have more financial wiggle room. Simply funding some of these early childhood programs will support #edequity.
HOT of PRESS: Solid progress on the #BigBoldAsk for postsecondary. Primarily continuation funding for K12 & early childhood. However, discussions still ongoing about use of federal stimulus. Initial analysis on #KyGA21 budget by @perrypapka and @SPWestonprichardcommittee.org/analys…
As an educator, one must be cognizant of the implicit racial bias they, their colleagues, and their superiors may be susceptible to. @BrookingsInst uses a data-driven approach to elucidate the underlying bias within the public school system here: brookings.edu/blog/brown-cen…#edquity
On #ReadAcrossAmericaDay, we urge you to support literacy in Kentucky by telling your legislators to support HB 271 and SB 115! Both bills will help improve reading skills for our K-3 students through supporting teacher preparation!

This is SUPER important to tell students if one's resources are outdated. It took me far too long to realize that the 'conventional wisdom' of textbooks is not immune to criticism. #antiracisted#edequity
"Once students realize that the textbook (for ex.) doesn’t have all the answers, and that they might be able to correct the record, they are on a path to discovery."
One key aspect of antiracism is critical thinking.
