🚨🚨REMINDER: Tenure-track and generously funded faculty position in "BASIC research into regenerative medicine and disease mechanisms" at our Wallenberg Center for Molecular Medicine (@LuWcmm ) at Lund University (@lunduniversity ).
🚨📷Be our colleague @lunduniversity!! @LuWcmm is recruiting 2 PIs (see ads below (and in thread)-link corrected) in Regenerative medicine. SO happy to see basic research being prioritised . These are Tenure Track positions with generous start-up packages. lu.varbi.com/en/what:job/job…

Can't wait for Fibronectin, Integrin and Related Molecules (FIRM?) GRC! What a great lineup of speakers - fantastic from @WickstromLab @TanentzapfLab
Replying to @WickstromLab
@WickstromLab & myself are happy to announce the program for the upcoming Fibronectin, Integrin & Related Molecules Gordon Research Conference. This is one of the oldest GRC conferences around (since 1982) & we put together an OUTSTANDING program for y'all. Registration is open.

Fantastic thread on multi-cellular rotations by @onenimesa and @EpiMechFC
Collective cell motion has many forms, but rotation is the coolest of them all. I'm @onenimesa, and in this short🧵, I'll highlight some instances of global tissue rotation like this one from @BauschLab

" Integrins are molecular machines w/ parts that undergo large, ∼100 Å movements; however, we believed that we could not understand this machine and truly appreciate its soul—its animating principle—until we saw it move. "- Li et al. -What a tour de force cell.com/cell/fulltext/S0092…

so many key points in this study: 1. High affinity extended open binds it ligands slower than its low affinity closed state 2. Force transmitted or tension built across the molecule activates it- making it agnostic to identity of molecules

3. Conformational changes occur at the timescale of milliseconds --crazzzy 4. Summary: outside-in events initiates rapid and coordinated conformation changes which are stabilised by inside-out events and generation of forces to stabilise integrin activation

I'm on my way!
Aleksi Isomursu @aisomursu from @IvaskaLab will defend his doctoral thesis "Biomechanics of cancer cell motility" on Friday 12th of April at 12:00 in the Tauno Nurmela auditorium @UniTurku . Aleksi's opponent will be Vinay Swaminathan from Lund University.

...Alea iacta est.... Just kidding..All the tools involved in these conversations are really amazing..
Bold statement "Transformers do not outperform Cellpose" by Stringer & Pachitariu 😯 No matter how this controversy ends, this preprint is a fantastic read to learn about good scientific practice in cell segmentation method comparison studies 🤩

Great work! Also- Someone please set up a **taxis tournament- Single cell type , opposing gradients of same relative magnitudes (how and what?-not sure).. Hapto vs Chemo; Duro vs Curvo; Rheo vs Visco etc. -- Any guesses on winners?
🚨 How do cells migrate when exposed to curvature cues? We addressed this question using a minimal model developed by Raj Kumar Sadhu & Nir Gov and various curved systems by @LucianoMarine1, @BLadoux and others @PNASNews 👇🏼 pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.23…

So happy to see this in preprint! Molecular orientation can be a critical property of protein organisation in cells that encodes a wide range of biophysical information that localisation alone can't. To get 3D orientation of molecules in cells in complex environment is exciting!
I’m thrilled to share our preprint: “Three-dimensional spatio-angular fluorescence microscopy with a polarized dual-view inverted selective-plane illumination microscope (pol-diSPIM)”, a new 3D take on fluorescence anisotropy. 🧵1/15 Preprint: ⬇️ biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

New year, New call for cancer biology papers at nature.com/collections/daadb… . DM us if any questions. @TorilHol @mythreyelab @CommsBio @NaturePortfolio #TME
Our latest #CallforPapers is on the tumour microenvironment (#TME), and is guest-edited by @TorilHol & @mythreyelab! We're excited about cell/mol mechanisms and signalling components underlying the TME, and how these interactions impact cancer therapy. nature.com/collections/daadb…
