Hello! The Lammerding Lab @CornellBME and @weillinstitute is now on Twitter! Here is what you can expect from this account: highlights of our #mechanobiology work, pretty fluorescent images and videos, gushing over our team members, and more. Follow us!
Two recent new publications from our laboratory, led by the amazing Jacob Odell and @ElpersMaggie, respectively, shed new insights into the role of nuclear #lamins and nuclear #mechanobiology in two different contexts.
we found that polarization of bone marrow derived macrophages results in increased nuclear stiffness, despite a decrease in lamin A/C levels. This increase in nuclear stiffness was due to compaction of chromatin associated with polarization into M1-like macrophages...
Very excited to be sharing our new paper, just out in Nature Cell Biology! nature.com/articles/s41556-0…
The big question we investigate: How do migrating cells put their front 🔴 and back 🔵 in the right place?

To all scientists immigrants: This is an amazing opportunity. The Vilcek family is super generous and has rewarded many immigrant scientists including Nobel Laureate @kkariko. Hope everyone eligible applies !
Future engineers in action! Last weekend our graduate chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society hosted Girl Scout Engineering Day—bringing troops from NY & PA to campus for hands-on STEM, from lung models to DIY stethoscopes. @BMESociety@CUbmes
VIDEO: AI isn’t going to solve it all--or replace teachers--but it can support learning. An AI-powered reflective learning tool developed by Alexandra Werth's lab generates real-time follow-up questions to deepen student thinking in team-based learning.
