@LarsLarsonShow you obviously knew the story that caller was talking about with the Legos, why not help him fill in the blanks of the story and have an actual conversation without being condescending? Honestly curious. Thanks

Can we all just agree that the government sucks when it comes to operating public housing? wweek.com/news/2026/04/14/wh… Can we all just agree that the government sucks when it comes to operating public housing? And that’s despite enjoying advantages private owners lack…property tax exemptions and hundreds of millions of subsidy tax dollars. Despite all of that, Portland’s “Home Forward” faces a 35-million-dollar shortfall on the 7-thousand housing units it controls, including a thousand sitting vacant for months. So, I have a crazy proposition: Turn the whole mess over to the private sector. Private landlords manage 70 percent of all apartments in America. Most of that is “mom and pop” rentals owned by families and individuals. The evil corporate landlords many folks imagine only own about 3 percent of all rentals. “Moms and pops” know how to make a bottom line. Unlike the government, if they don’t take in more money than they spend, they go bankrupt and their properties go back to the bank. When government operations like “Home Forward” run a deficit, they just take more money from taxpayers at the point of a gun. So, try an experiment…let's turn over HALF of Home Forward’s apartments to private managers. I If I bet they rent out ALL their units. And give them the power to kick out the gang bangers, prostitutes and drug dealers that make life hell for regular, law-abiding low -income tenants.

The city of Portland’s taxpayer subsidized housing agency, Home Forward, is sliding rapidly toward a financial cliff. oregonlive.com/business/2026… Mayor Keith Wilson warns the agency faces financial insolvency…what most of us call “can’t pay your bills”. 200-million of Home Forward’s 300-million dollar budget comes from the federal government. Home Forward operates 7-thousand so called affordable apartments. More than one thousand of them sit vacant for no good reason. So despite its rich Uncle Sam money, Home Forward is looking at a 35 million dollar budget shortfall. It doesn’t help that its former CEO, Ivory Matthews, took home a fat 300-thousand plus salary and did a hundred thousand in junkets around America while the agency she allegedly managed fell apart. Matthews bailed out with a fat 170-thousand dollar golden parachute cause that’s how things work in liberal progressive Portland. In the meantime, tenants still renting from Home Forward have to contend with prostitutes and drug dealers…and a landlord looking at bankruptcy by year’s end.

For God's sake, SAY HER NAME! portlanddissent.substack.com… For the last two weeks, I’ve told you about the rape and murder of a five-year-old girl…and the double life sentence imposed on her killer. Sahara Dwight died 16 years ago, but now her killer, Dustin Wallace, may walk out of prison decades earlier than the sentence handed down by a Judge. The family of Sahara worked hard to get the word out to the public about this outrage. Last week, the parole board put off any release of her killer for at least 10 years. I count that as a win. But he’s supposed to be behind bars twice his miserable lifespan. Here’s where I see the losses for anyone who cares about Justice. The people that citizens pay to run Oregon’s prison system now see criminals as “Clients” and even call them “adults in custody”. Then consider what the parole board did. As documented by journalist Pamela Fitzsimmons, at its hearing, the board instructed those who testified to only refer to the 5-year-old girl by her initials….S.D….even though her name is well known to the public. I’ll remind you that when police deal with crimes like kidnapping, they tell the family to say the victim’s name. Criminals like Dustin Wallace depersonalize their victims. Now, the prison system of Oregon does everything it can to cater to criminals while reducing their victims to a set of initials. What does that tell you about criminal sympathetic parole board members and the democrat governors who have chosen them over the last 40 years?

Excellent summation of last week's ridiculous consideration of parole for a man convicted of the rape and murder of a 5 year old girl. portlanddissent.substack.com… Pamela made an important point about using initials for the victim. It's worse that. Consider most murders and kidnappings. The violent criminal thinks of the victim as "it". Police tell families to personalize the victim. She has a name...she is a person. Imagine the inhumanity of a parole board who wants to sum up a 5 year old child of God as just two initials. Then consider the Democrat politicians who choose those parole board members...and the voters who chose those evil pols.
