A three-year, EU-funded project to develop novel CO2 capture solvents and support the widespread deployment of carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS).
Thank you to those of you who came to our final event earlier this month. A recording, the presentations and a summary of the main points are now available on our website #CCS#CCUS#energytransitionlaunchccus.eu/news/launch-sh…
That's it for today's session - thank you to all our funders, partners and everyone who has engaged with the project.
Keep an eye on the website for our forthcoming reports
And in the words of our project coordinator channeling Mr Spock: Live long and prosper! 🖖
We're into the final session of the day - we've achieved a lot in the last 3 1/2 years:
A long-term solvent testing campaign giving us a lot of data
Transatlantic knowledge exchange
A much better understanding of how to work with solvent degradation
We're now hearing about the design of the LAUNCH rig - small-scale mobile capture test plant that uses the same materials and mitigation measures as full scale plant, with additional instrumentation to understand the behaviour of solvents with real flue gas.
We're hearing now about how to qualify solvents: for this, understanding the capture process is as important as analysing the solvent itself; and lab experiments need to be complemented by piloting with real flue gas
To help with this, the LAUNCH project has developed a searchable solvent degradation database to bring together the available data and literature: this will be made public soon
We have organised our findings into a solvent degradation database which will be made public when the project ends. #CCS#CCUS Please join us at our final event now teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup…
*Final event now* Interesting presentation from Gary Rochelle of @UTAustin and good to hear the research will continue with the support of the US DoE @ENERGY. Plenty of opportunities to ask questions #CCS#CCUS Join us

We're kicking off our final public event in Delft - before we delve into The War on Solvent Degradation, we're giving an overview of the work we've done and the outputs we've produced - keep an eye on the website as we'll be publishing more over the next month or so
*Webinar tomorrow Wednesday* There's still time to sign up to our final event tomorrow 13.00-17.00 CET. We will be sharing the results of our three year research project into novel solvents for use in #CCS#CCUS. @TNO_Research@TNO_nieuws Please join us! launchccus.eu/events/launch-…
*Final event this Wednesday Feb 15* We are delighted to invite you to our final event where we will share results from our 3-year research project into solvents used in #CCS#CCUS. Please join us
