Today we had a workshop at Utrecht University led by Prof. Andries Baart (precarity), Prof. Jac van der Klink (the capability model and sustainable employment), Prof Laura Weiss and Prof. Marita Heyns (student well-being) and Prof. Roland Blonk (learning communities). Valuable!

We found small significant effects for well-being compared with non-active control groups (β = 0.25). Guided interventions had the strongest effects. Our findings show that different psychological interventions can improve well-being, both for healthy and clinical groups.

How can you get the date of your brother’s murder wrong? In our @ERC_Research project, I’ve seen many examples that may seem odd from a Western perspective, but are understandable from a different cultural perspective. Let me share some examples. (1/8) allp.nl/cases/eyewitness-mem…

This video gives a nice overview of what my promotors taught me about well-being and what formed my own vision on how to improve mental health.

The joys of a nerd: Our article on 'lessons learned when implementing a positive psychology intervention' is published in my favorite journal - The Journal of Positive Psychology. The first 50 get a free eprint: tandfonline.com/eprint/YFJGF…

Beautiful photos by my colleague Christiaan from our Winter-wonderland campus. Probably the only thing I still haven't got used to in South Africa is that July is a winter month and Christmas is in summer.
Brrrr!! ❄️💨 The beauty on the @theNWU Vanderbijlpark Campus this morning #MyNWU #NWUVaal

I don't know if it is the topic, but self-determination theory seems to only attract inherently kind people @SDT2019

This was a month ago when we celebrated the success of our 3-week program 'ABDC of a PhD' with a gala dinner. We could not have wished for better participants for this support program for beginning PhD students from all over Afric! Thanks @robinclaired for making us part of this!

Something many students mentioned during the interviews and focus groups I conducted on student well-being: It makes a difference when supervisors do not only teach them, but show them that they care. With thanks to @_christiaanb_

Even if you pick a single one of those, you can profit from it.

It was such a unique opportunity, spending a week in the beautiful Game Reserve Dinokeng, learning advanced stats, working on your own data and ending the day with game drives. Thank you Stats Camp Team, and especially @Ianrothmann, for making this possible!
