"We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings ... The name of our beautiful reward is not profit. Its name is freedom." ― Ursula K. Le Guin

#PressStatement Beyond the EACC raid, accountability must follow. The National Integrity Alliance (NIA) has issued a statement in response to the recent EACC raid at the residence of a senior Nairobi County official, where significant sums of cash were reportedly recovered. While this operation is an important step, it is only part of the process. NIA is calling for: ✔️ Swift conclusion of investigations ✔️ Prosecution where evidence supports ✔️ Recovery of illicit assets ✔️ Full enforcement of anti-corruption laws Read the full statement: tikenya.org/2026/06/09/beyon… #StopCorruptionKE #Governance #Transparency

#AFROMEDIVI @drLailaLatif just walked journalists through the Debt Contract Risk Explorer, a tool that breaks down the risky clauses hidden inside African loan agreements. Because the debt story isn't just in the budget. It's in the contract. #AfricaEconomicJustice #CAP @TIKenya

#AFROMEDIVI: Michael O Oloo highlighted what fiscal consolidation looks like for women on the ground: shrinking health services, unpaid care gaps filled by women who step back from paid work, regressive taxation that hits the poorest hardest, and gender equality programmes quietly defunded. The IMF prescribes revenue hikes and spending cuts. Women pay the real price. 27 African countries now have debt repayments exceeding 10% of revenues. This is not a budget footnote it is a crisis with a face. #AfricaEconomicJustice #CAP @TIKenya

Day 2 of #AFROMEDIIV is here, and we’re going deeper. Today’s focus: the legal architecture of African sovereign debt, the human cost of austerity, climate emergency and how the global financial architecture shapes Africa’s debt. This is the reporting Africa deserves. And AFROMEDI journalists are being empowered to deliver it. #AfricaEconomicJustice #CAP @TIKenya
