This water jug were used by the #wealthy at the ‘high table’. It is in the form of a bearded knight on a horseback and is off buff ware with a dark green glaze. This #artefact dates to the 12th century and was found whilst #digging the railway tunnel at #Lewes.

In 1940 there was a frenzy of activity across Britain to install new defences in anticipation of a Nazi invasion. Across Seven Sisters Country Park, you can still see the remnants of these defences in the form of pillboxes and Dragon's Teeth. #SevenSistersCountryPark

These #artefacts are Iron barbed hunting arrows. During the #medieval era, #hunting not only provided food but was a popular past time amongst the #wealthy. The entitlements to hunt were restricted to the #privileged. These arrows were discovered in Hangleton and #Lewes, #Sussex

Today’s theme for #Museum30 is #study. This is a #mathematics textbook and was #published in 1566 by John Awdely. It was found ‘lost’ behind #Broadhurst #Manor in 1925. If you look carefully, you might make out the text! This artefact is on display at @LewesCastle!
