Diogo and Andre were human beings before they were footballers, but our connections to them were forged through football. I haven't known what to say about their passing - I still don't - but I am thankful to Diogo in particular. Our number 20. medium.com/@newislonan/diogo…

I'll have no bad words for Gakpo as a footballer when/if he leaves btw. He never really fit into a position (he's the most second-striker coded player you can find), but I judge him against what I expected him to be - a squad player. He's been fine for us.
[🟢] NEW: Cody Gakpo hasn’t told Liverpool directly he wants to leave. However, there has been recent interest in Gakpo from Italy, and Bayern from last summer. Liverpool not actively looking to sell and have noted the fee on Anthony Gordon’s £70m Barcelona move, which would inform their valuation. Gakpo is well contracted until 2030. [@JacobsBen]

No idea if we sign Diomande and Barcola, but both of their profiles would help significantly.
Arsenal are in talks with Club Brugge for Christos Tzolis as @HandofArsenal called. Belgium side want close to £35m. As previously revealed on @talkSPORT, Morgan Rogers remains a leading target in addition. Bradley Barcola and Junior Kroupi are the other viable options for a starting left-wing spot at the club. Liverpool also tracking Barcola. PSG are prepared to consider a sale if they reinforce with another attacker even though contract extensions talks are also active. Julian Alvarez also a dream target for Arsenal. Jeremy Monga talks remain advanced. Arsenal also working on outgoings. Saudi interest in Gabriel Martinelli remains. Bournemouth one club who have enquired on Leandro Trossard, who is also drawing interest from Europe.🔴

Alexander Isak and other forwards at Liverpool will have to replace Salah's goals. Slot struggled to platform attackers, but I don't think that will be a problem with Andoni Iraola. Would love it if you read my new Substack (and sub to my YouTube)!⬇️⬇️⬇️ open.substack.com/pub/thefoo…

Randomly remembered that Nunez averaged more G/A per 90 in the Premier League than Sadio Mane did for us🫢

I'm arguing with someone who said he was terrible and I just tried to say that he was decent. Please don't hurt me for the comparison because obviously Mane's better.

Substack piece and YouTube video both hopefully out tomorrow, but out of interest, would many of you be interested if I started livestreaming?

I'm famous again.
People underrate the finish you know. Everyone raves about the quick thinking from Bradley, but they never talk about Origi's finish.

Does anyone have that comp of Bournemouth's goals this season?

Genuinely, VVD's the only reason we didn't concede about 70 PL goals. It's stupid that he's this good at his age, but it's stupid that he's still having to carry everyone around him.
Since June 2025, Virgil van Dijk has played 5,841 minutes for club and country, more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues, missing just 279 minutes in the process (90 for the Netherlands, 189 for Liverpool).

I swear to you that I will be there to defend this man when hits his penalty over the bar in a UCL semi-final.
🚨🚨| BREAKING: Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Darwin Núñez’s situation, with a potential sensational return to Anfield being considered as they look to strengthen their attack this summer. New manager Andoni Iraola’s high-intensity, pressing system is said to suit Núñez well, making him an interesting option as Liverpool explore ways to reinforce their forward line ahead of a major rebuild. {@sportbible}

We were boring and the style of Iraola contrasts significantly with Slot. That's an objective truth.
The narrative is that Slot's style was boring & Iraola is a massive contrast. I checked 25/26 stats for the same metrics: 1. High turnovers: Liverpool 6th (285) & Bournemouth 3rd (298). 2. Pressed sequences: Liverpool 5th (448) & Bournemouth 6th (446). NOTE: even the PPDA's are closely similar - Bournemouth's press isn't more intense than Liverpool's. 3. Direct attacks: Bournemouth 1st (83) but Liverpool 2nd (81). All very similar w. marginal differences. Unfair to say they have different principles. Iraola has benefited from outperforming low expectations whilst Slot underperformed high expectations. #LFC

Iraola, then.
Andoni Iraola replaces Arne Slot, but what can we expect? A broad overview of what we might see at Liverpool ahead of some deeper dives down the line! And it goes without saying, but following me on Substack, YouTube and everything else will always help! open.substack.com/pub/thefoo…

Iraola said that he loves players whose first instincts are to go forward. He'll love Diomande.
🚨 Liverpool make contact with RB Leipzig as Yan Diomande pursuit steps up. #LFC currently in strongest position on player side if 19yo winger moves - #RBLeipzig determined not to sell. #PSG interest remains firm but less advanced at present @TheAthleticFC nytimes.com/athletic/7285682…

I have noticed lots of growth on Substack and on YouTube, so I really, really appreciate it. I won't have anything on either today, but there will be plenty on both over the summer. Ultimately, thanks everyone!🫡

At the very least, you will never be able to accuse Iraola of not being brave.
Exclusive: Andoni Iraola is scheduled to travel to Merseyside tomorrow morning to put the finishing touches to his move to Liverpool, including putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.
