maybe the defining feature of US governance is brawndo thinking. if an idea is intuitive or immediately appealing, it has momentum to roll for years, even when each individual involved can learn it's doomed by ten minutes of googling.

Last week a judge allowed a lawsuit to proceed which seeks to reinstate the plan to charge vehicles traveling through parts of Manhattan after Gov. Kathy Hochul halted the plans in June. It’s been a long road to get a congestion charge in NYC with some plans dating back 70 years

As the share of transfer income has risen, the way that American communities and regions sustain themselves has been radically altered.
Places with very low reliance on transfers used to be the norm. Now they are an endangered species.

Today the NY Supreme Court quickly denied Governor Hochul’s motion to dismiss our lawsuits challenging her “pause” of congestion pricing. Now she has until Oct. 15 to answer complaints. Great interim victory.

Before a judge hears the first arguments for Riders Alliance v. Hochul and City Club of New York v. Hochul, we rallied with plaintiffs and advocates outside the federal courthouse.
Congestion pricing is the law. @GovKathyHochul does not have the unilateral authority to revoke it.

I don’t have trouble with the European attached bottle tops. In a given week I will lift barbells, ride a bus and use a pressure washer. So for me at least, pushing aside a piece of plastic is child’s play. I understand though that for many of you they are a challenge.

I wonder if the people who want to legalize Korean sunscreen face the counterargument that “under this proposal, every bottle of sunscreen in America could be thrown out and replaced with Korean sunscreen.”
Under a new proposal, almost every single family home in Montgomery County could be torn down and replaced with a duplex, a triplex, four townhomes, or in some cases a small apartment building.
