A former President of the American Civil Liberties Union (1991–2008), Strossen has spent decades defending robust protections for free speech and civil liberties. In 1980, Milton Friedman’s Free to Choose was published—along with a 10-part TV series. As notable as the ideas in each episode was Friedman’s approach to the discussion portion—favouring robust debate and long-format conversation to short-form slogans or angry talking points.
