📖TEXAS PRIMARY: Attorney General, Agriculture Commissioner, Comptroller, Railroad Commissioner 👨‍⚖️Attorney General (R): Candidates - US Rep. Chip Roy, State Senator Mayes Middleton, State Senator Joan Huffman, Former DOJ Assistant AG Aaron Reitz. Chip Roy, a House Freedom Caucus member from Texas’ 21st Congressional District, and Mayes Middleton, a State Senator and Texas Freedom Caucus member, have led the way in polling. Joan Huffman, a moderate State Senator, trails in third, while Former Paxton Deputy, Aaron Reitz has struggled to gain traction, but had a strong debate performance. Middleton has easily led the way in fundraising. Reitz has the endorsement of current Attorney General Ken Paxton. It will likely head to a runoff between Chip Roy and Mayes Middleton. (D): Candidates - State Senator Nathan Johnson, Former Galveston Mayor Joe Jaworski, Attorney Tony Box. Nathan Johnson has led the way in fundraising, endorsements, and polling. However, don’t count out Jaworski. This may head to a runoff between Johnson & Jaworski. 👨‍🌾Agriculture Commissioner: (R): Incumbent Sid Miller faces a strong primary challenge from Businessman Nate Sheets. Miller is a strong defender of liberty and President Trump, looking to earn his 4th term in office. Nate Sheets has the endorsement of Greg Abbott, whom Miller has notably clashed with in the past. (D): Clayton Tucker, a rancher and founder of Texas Progressive Caucus is the Democrat Nominee. 👩‍💼Comptroller: (R): Candidates - Former State Senator Don Huffines, Acting Comptroller & Former State Senator Kelly Hancock, Railroad Commissioner Christi Craddick. Don Huffines has the endorsements of Ron Paul, Ted Cruz, the late Charlie Kirk, and many others. Huffines challenged Greg Abbott for governor in 2022, but only earned 12% of the vote. Kelly Hancock, endorsed by Abbott, was appointed Acting Comptroller in July, 2025 when Comptroller Glenn Hegar resigned. Christi Craddick, Railroad Commissioner, is the daughter of former Speaker of the Texas House Tom Craddick. Huffines has led the way in polling, and looks to avoid a runoff where he would likely face Kelly Hancock. One other little-known candidate is running. (D): State Senator Sarah Eckhardt looks to avoid a runoff. She is facing 2022 Land Commissioner Candidate Michael Lange, who received 20% in the open, four person primary. Entrepreneur Savant Moore is also running. 🛤️Railroad Commissioner: (R): Candidates - Incumbent Jim Wright, Tarrant County GOP Chair Bo French, 2024 Candidate James Matlock, 2024 Libertarian Nominee Hawk Dunlap, 2024 Democrat Nominee Katherine Culbert. Texas has three elected Railroad Commissioners. Each serve staggered 6 year terms. In 2020, Jim Wright incumbent Ryan Sitton (55%-45%). Now, incumbent Jim Wright faces four primary challengers. Bo French, a staunch conservative, has led the way in fundraising among the challenges bringing in almost $300,000. James Matlock ran for the Railroad Commission seat in 2024, but lost to Christi Craddick 50.4%-26.6% in the open primary. Hawk Dunlap was the Libertarian Nominee for the seat in 2024, earning 2.6% in the general election. Katherine Culbert was the Democrat nominee for the seat in 2024, earning 39.0% in the general, losing to Christi Craddick. (D): State Rep. Jon Rosenthal is uncontested in the primary and therefore the Democrat nominee.

📖TEXAS PRIMARY: Governor & Lt Governor Date: March 3rd, 50% Needed to Avoid Runoff 🏆Governor: (R) With over $100 million cash on hand, Governor Greg Abbott looks like he will cruise his way to the general where he will likely prevail and begin his 4th term. Abbott is being challenged by Pete “Doc” Chambers, a veteran who is a staunch advocate for liberty, medical freedom, and transparency. However, Chambers has struggled to raise money. Abbott faces 9 other little-known challengers in this primary. Abbott has the endorsement of President Trump. (D) State Rep. Gina Hinojosa looks to avoid a runoff before facing the well-funded Governor Greg Abbott in the general election. Hinojosa faces former US Rep & 2006 Gubernatorial Nominee Chris Bell, and Rancher Bobby Cole, along with six other little-known candidates. 🏆Lt Governor: (R) Incumbent Dan Patrick, endorsed by President Trump, will easily cruise his way to the general election. He faces three little-known candidates. Dan Patrick has $37.7 million cash on hand. (D) State Rep Vikki Goodwin looks to avoid a runoff where she faces Union Representative Marcos Velez and one other candidate. 🔮General Election Matchup Prediction: Governor: Greg Abbott (R) vs. Gina Hinojosa (D) Lt Governor: Dan Patrick (R) vs. Vikki Goodwin (D) Who do you think will win?

Solid rundown on how the Speaker vote went down.
A quick tick tock on how the dramatic speaker vote went down, based on convos w/ multiple sources: After the 6 hardliners who initially withheld their vote finally cast their support for Johnson, it was down to just three holdouts: Massie, Norman & Self. Massie was seen as a lost cause. So Johnson and other HFC members began trying to work over Norman and Self on the floor. Nancy Mace then quickly dialed up Donald Trump, who was in the middle of a game of golf. Leadership — after initially putting out a notice that they'd go to a second ballot — kept the vote open. Johnson led a group to an anteroom off the House floor, where Mace passed the phone over to Norman and Self, with Trump on the line. Norman & Self were back on the floor 15 minutes later, where they asked the clerk to switch their votes to Johnson — enough to deliver him the gavel.
