In our small area of Manny where we reside theres 8xCare Experianced/Adopted young people with no school offer. 8 in just 1 tiny post code area refused access to a school. Some for years due to early life experiences. Imagine what that equates to when we look at that nationally

Care Experienced YP- never had access to high school-LA has no schl offer. It’s now time to think about collage. Ambition to work in TV lighting. Have oodles of ‘real’ TV work experience, great TV credits. Collage-you’re not welcome, you won’t get anywhere without 4 GCSE’s in TV

Profit in the Children's Care system should never have been allowed to fester. Yet it's happening day after day, bankrupting LA's.....£20k a week for one child. How? The outcomes for the child @£20k a week will be so low its enough to make you weep bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crlr…

We're constantly working on stories about Adoption/ Care System/Failed Edu. But sometimes a left-field approach is needed. We are off to Dutch Design Week,a hub for groundbreaking ideas. Pumped to be inspired by design industry disruptors & rule-breakers ddw.nl/en/home

Childrens services illegally send boy, 13, to live in caravan 200 miles from his family. This is the reality of many kids in care whose 'state parent' changes every 12hrs. If your parent changed every 12hrs would you be disruptive? mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/so…

Great work from @FASDNETUK fighting for direct access to assessment pathways for FASD for young people who come into care through no fault of their own. Blocking or gatekeeping assessment access creates lifelong catastrophic consequences.
Around 70% of people diagnosed with #FASD have been through #fostercare. This #FosterCarerAppreciationDay, we appreciate our foster carers for learning how to recognise children with possible FASD. You are changing the futures of so many children. @teamfostering #fostercarers

"Why are you always so sad, look at this." That line catches you seconds in. In a time when we worry so much about young male teenagers, this brings so much joy. Jam-packed with community, friendship, and love they share between them youtu.be/QGvVJOaEtz4?si=j8EG…

Pushing the boundaries again, Lucy Barnes fantastic offer to help with LAW scholarship applications. Awesome opportunity for someone who would struggle financially otherwise. Repping the unrepresented. Salute Lucy!!
If anyone in my network is thinking of a career at the Bar & is from a disadvantaged background, please DM me if you’d like help with your scholarship application. My scholarship meant that I could pay for Bar fees (I otherwise couldn’t). It’s a really important opportunity

Holds breath, wondering if anyone involved is connecting the dots that @Gov promoted; school punitive behaviour management policies will need to change rapidly to accommodate any child displaying trauma/attachment problems in the classroom. We wait 👀 & hope 🙏 they do

Once again @DavidLammy giving voice to Care Experienced people. Would love to discuss with you the shocking numbers of young CE /Adopted young people being failed in education/justice system due to #FASD @FatimaWh1tbread Wishing you well with your campaign #FatimasCampaign
It was a pleasure to speak to @DavidLammy on @LBC about a cause so close to my heart… announcing “Fatima’s Campaign” to help improve lives in and after the care system for young people in the UK 🌟🇬🇧

Adoption's flipping hard for everyone involved. Our children can live with multiple families before moving in with adopted parents. Encourage them to ask questions, find their voice, have their own agency. Its not always straightforward road to a safe home. #AdoptionJourney

20% reduction in new EHCP. Why does it have to be this hard.
Seems research from SNJ’s @CaptainK77 has reached the commons

You can’t help but applaud the work that @ccwild79 continues to do for Care Experienced People. May your battle for the rights of CEP come to fruition very soon. Keep going Chris! Salute 🫡

In the last few months, I have heard from hundreds of young people speaking about the negative impact being in care has had on their lives. It's been heartbreaking. Young people crying in front of civil servants and politicians, begging them to listen and help by making care experience a protected characteristic. It could change the system once and for all, and I am not interested in so-called professionals debating it when young people are dying, suffering with severe mental health, forced into criminal gangs, made homeless, just because of a broken system that doesn't value the lives of our most vulnerable children and young people in the system. No more talking. Make care experience a protected characteristic.#changeiscoming.

Although #FASD is a complex & variable spectrum with 428 co-occurring conditions, it also seems to have a key common characteristic. This is disordered threat processing and resulting dysregulated defensive behaviours.

WOW!!! Congratulations @FasdSalford once again on leading and pushing the boundaries of #FASD Awareness. This has the potential to be a game changer.
In search of novel ways to identify FASD, our team is so excited to welcome @thisisarijit, Dr Nigel Bassat, Dr Neil Aiton and NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care. The team will tackle research on detecting prenatal alcohol exposure. Read more here: hub.salford.ac.uk/fasd/2023/…

Beautifully told story about living with #FASD a condition caused by an alcohol-exposed pregnancy. So many outstanding young children have needs not met in education or are forced to leave education altogether. We salute Shushma and Layla
This #FASD Awareness month we are happy to launch this uplifting FASD Case Study #3 - Shushma & Layla's Story youtu.be/_oIi6XavJIA? Please do share to do your bit. si=KJxBFTbEf6oM5i6Q via @YouTube #homeschooling #ADOPTION #fosteringsaveslives
