We're investing a further £35 million to stop drones being used to smuggle drugs, phones and weapons into our prisons. This is part of our plan to cut the flow of illicit items that fuel violence and disorder behind bars, with stronger barriers, closer work with police and new technology. To the gangs responsible: we're shutting you down, and you will face the full force of the law.

The right to peaceful protest is a cornerstone of our democracy, but there is never any justification for attacking police officers, intimidating communities or descending into violent disorder. These sentences for those rioting in Southampton last week send a clear message that violence on our streets will never be tolerated and you should expect to feel the full force of the law. I pay tribute to the officers who put themselves in harm’s way to protect the public.

At #LondonTechWeek, I announced we’ll develop and test AI legal assistants for the Crown Court, faster case listing tools for judges, and AI transcription for every probation officer in England and Wales - less admin, more time keeping the public safe.

Henry Nowak’s killer’s crimes and lies were sickening. It’s right that a number of independent processes are in progress to get the answers people rightly expect, including the ongoing review by the IOPC.

The first duty of any government is to keep our country safe. That's why we're delivering the biggest sustained increase in defence spending since the Cold War.

Great to hear directly from those supporting Black men to take part in prostate cancer research, alongside @DavidLammy, earlier this week. Conversations like this are vital to closing the evidence gap and building a fairer system.
Health and Social Care Secretary @jamesmurray_ldn and Deputy Prime Minister @DavidLammy met with representatives of community organisations and @ProstateUK to hear about their work supporting Black men to be part of prostate cancer research.

Kanya King was one of the most kind, generous and dynamic people I’ve had the privilege of calling a friend for most of my adult life. She made an outstanding contribution to the UK music industry and led the way in uplifting Black music to a global audience.Ā  May she rest in peace.

3.5 million unmarried couples living together in the UK stand to gain stronger protections under Labour. Too many couples have limited rights if their relationship ends or their partner dies - even after years together or raising children. Labour is consulting on reforms to improve financial security, strengthen protections for survivors of domestic abuse and create a fairer system that reflects modern relationships.

Nick, I believe judges from all ethnicities and all social backgrounds can be the "very best". @KemiBadenoch's 'inclusive action plan' agreed and set out plans to improve judicial diversity. Are you following Robert Jenrick to Reform next?
1) As the country reflects this week on the need for equality before the law, David Lammy is promoting a new Diversity Board for the judiciary. But to say the ethnicity of a judge matters undermines the principle that the law is blind. 1/

Today, I was interviewed by @Cosmopolitan. Must admit, I never thought I’d say that! I’m really excited that @DavidLammy has asked me to work on his cross-government Men and Boys agenda. I was talking about the specific dangers facing boys in online spaces, and the ā€˜Manosphere’. This is an issue so many of my constituents are worried about, and last night I spoke at a panel with @KanishkaNarayan and others about the government’s important work in this area. Thanks to the brilliant @alistrathern and @sarahsmithlab who organised the event - and have been championing this cause. More generally, I’m very keen to use this role to amplify the challenges and achievements that are perhaps more specific to men and boys. And also ensure these are rigorously considered across government. I’m keen to hear from organisations that work in this space! Get in touch. @CosmopolitanUK
