Over-motivated echo cancellation drowning out people not close enough to the laptop.
Audio jitter because someone clogs up the WiFi.
More than a decade ago, this stuff "just worked" on regular phones.

... at lunch today, the same discussion. If "less traveling, more virtual meetings" is what we are striving for (and there's many good reasons we should, at least as an option), we need to thoroughly fix this stuff.

Had a @Techmoan moment sorting through some boxes I still kept at my parents place. 90s/early 2000s mobile HiFi, including an Intel MP3 player with all of 64MB (not GB!) storage.
Put some AA batteries is, everything except the Discman still worked fine.

For the next time I'm asked what we had before smartphones.. I used these, ca. 1998 to 2009.
Missing the Siemens S4 Power, that fell off a moped. The K750i was the biggest change: usable camera MP3, two devices less to hurl around.

also, Twitter seems to be quite picky concerning h264 codec settings for uploading video. Note for next time:

Just back from "Apollo 11"... if you are in any way fascinated by the moon landing (now 50 years ago) or the whole space age in general, go see it. Great movie! Glad @CalmPixie found one of the few screenings of it we got in Germany.
