Having Orion/Optimus choose the name "Autobots" to represent them actively reclaiming their body autonomy, after Sentinel systemically stole and kept it from them, was so fucking good.
Any praise for this movie's writing and themes is just not enough.
To follow up on this:
You can extend this interpretation to Sentinel’s theft of the cogs from the miners, since the story itself revolves around freedom and personal autonomy being the right of ALL sentient beings.
Sentinel just gets more evil the more I think about it.

i think this conversation is missing the point that the writers could have given tiana a very supportive black friend in addition to lottie! lottie as her friend isnt bad at all, but black community/black sisterhood is cool to see on screen as well
They were trying to convince her to leave her job and party with them
Lottie convinced his dad to hire Tiana so she could get the funds for her restaurant :)
