“…to call some family members. I did that.” His need to explain, not only that he “told” her he was getting off the phone, but also why, is out of bounds. To then have a need to affirm that he in fact “did that” should have us question if there could be another reason too.

In conclusion, Murdaugh’s language suggests that he was attempting to be in control while also ingratiating himself to police, all while he purports be have just found his wife and son murdered.
