Recent events forced us Japanese to look at ourselves again. I was born long after the war. I used to pity the kamikaze pilots who threw their young lives away in pointless suicide attacks. They demand more. They turned the Paris Olympics opening into a grotesque monster festival. I feel zero shared humanity with them. No understanding. No empathy. They are not like us. They are aliens wearing human skin.
