SkyGunner arrived on PS2 in 2001 and quietly disappeared. Developed by former staff from the original Ace Combat team, it traded realism for a world inspired by European adventure anime. Despite selling poorly, it remains one of the purest examples of arcade-style aerial combat on the system, and many PS2 owners have never even heard of it.

I replayed this game more times than I can count growing up😭💜 it was by far my favorite Spyro game BECAUSE of the flying element AND playing as Cynder💜💖
The last original mainline Spyro game to release before Spyro: A Realm Beyond was The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon from 2008!
