I think a lot of people overestimate just how much Internet - especially the old Internet - the Wayback Machine has saved. There seems to be an assumption that everything which has ever existed online *must* be out there, somewhere, and that isn’t true.
There's nothing like rummaging around in the archives of a site that's been around since 2006, clicking on the links of the sites they recommend, and every single one being a dead link. An entire internet, lost. And we were told whatever we put online was forever.

Google exists bc of a grand bargain: scrape the open web, and profit from directing traffic to the best sites. Around 2010, the betrayal began. YouTube artificially ranked above other video, then over time maps results injected, shopping, flights, events. Now AI answers.
This literally shut me down. I used to get clients who want to make toys because they visited my site for blog posts and information. Now they don't need to. Google scraped my content and regurgitates it at the top of the search. Zero visitors now. No clients.

It's hard to blame people for being confused by social security when the program was specifically set up this way to confuse them. Why? Because the fundamental logic is so clearly unsound: the average person is promised more money out, in real terms, than they pay in.

Really funny that every single retiree on this website thinks social security is some kind of bank account the government kept for them, and not a benefit being actively funded by today’s taxes

I rewatched one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and I forgot that at one point the East India Trading Company straight up blackmails Davy Jones into working for them. It’s like if Amazon captured a Lovecraftian elder god but only made it deliver packages. It’s genius.

Geostationary launches can accept some big changes to their launch window, because the target effectively moves with the launch site.
As the weather moves on, SpaceX adjusted the T-0 time for tonight's launch of the SXM-10 mission from pad 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The Falcon 9 rocket is now set to launch at 11:24 pm ET (0324 UTC). Watch live: youtube.com/watch?v=4XJ7NAS-…
