I spoke recently to a consultant who was spending a large part of their week writing letters and dealing with admin as they had no support staff. Not a great use of their time. NHS knows the cost of everything and value of nothing.
Today our trust announced that they are making lots of admin people redundant. These are the people that do really important jobs. Are clinical staff having to do this too?? I know it’s in the financial shit…but that is because of govt funding. kentlive.news/news/kent-news…

Alongside @NOrF_CCO_RRS and @CC_3N we welcome and support #MarthasRule. Successful implementation will depend upon a properly resourced critical care outreach service in every unit and investment is needed to ensure all can succeed. Full statement: bit.ly/CCOP_MarthaRule

It has been seven months since we first told @SteveBarclay consultants were on a course towards industrial action. He hasn't even met with us since our overwhelming ballot in favour of industrial action. @SteveBarclay says his door is open, but not to avert strike action.
In fact, the Health Secretary hasn’t met the Consultants since their strike ballot result and hasn’t replied to @TheBMA’s letter. In the face of the worst NHS strikes in history, the Health Secretary has been asleep at the wheel and the Prime Minister is nowhere to be seen.

My dad left school at 16, mum at 12. I am the first / only member of my family to receive a higher education. I received a student grant to go to @UniofOxford. I left med school with little debt. I could not afford to train as a doctor now.
