Yesterday was a good day for FF Bell who celebrated her birthday by rescuing a duck which had got itself stuck. Crews accessed using a triple extension ladder, weβre happy to report that the duck was released completely unharmed by the experience.

27 years ago, firefighter Fleur Lombard lost her life in a supermarket fire. She was the first female firefighter to die on duty in peacetime Britain.

Drill this week dealt with BA procedures, we took our new recruits through set removal for enclosed spaces and also HAZMAT decontamination, we also spent time refreshing knowledge on identification tabards and roles undertaken by their wearers.

Never add water to a chip pan fire, the water will react violently with the hot oil.
Use a fire blanket if safe to do so.
If the fire is too big, leave the kitchen closing the door behind you, and ring 999/112 for the Fire Brigade.
