There is still much work to be done, and I see this as a positive sign, a call to action that will continue to inspire efforts long after my departure. Though my official role now comes to an end, my connection to this region will remain.

Yesterday, a special Israeli delegation of former hostages and families of those still held captive by Hamas met with the Pope at the Vatican. During the emotional meeting, former captives and families, including Yocheved Lifshitzโ€”recently released while her husband Oded remains heldโ€”and Yelena Trofimov, whose son Sasha is still being held captive in Gaza, shared personal stories and asked the Pope to advocate for their loved ones. The family of hostage Tal Shoham presented the Pope with a soccer jersey from Talโ€™s favorite team, symbolizing his love of the sport and calling for his release. This delegation, organized by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hostage and Missing Persons Directorate, the Israeli embassies in Rome and the Vatican, the Ministry of Defense, and the Hostage Families Forum, seeks to keep the plight of over 100 hostages held by Hamas on the global agenda. The families called for their immediate release, reminding the world that behind every image is a person, a story, and a human being longing to return home.

Here are the facts: ๐Ÿ”ด @unrwa has been infiltrated by Hamas terrorists responsible for murdering and kidnapping Israelis. ๐Ÿ”ดCurrently UNRWA provides only 17% of humanitarian aid in Gaza. ๐Ÿ”ด Numerous reputable organizations are actively delivering humanitarian aid in Gaza. Enough is enough. Humanitarian efforts must be free from all forms of terrorism.

New archeological finds from the 2000-year-old drainage channel in Jerusalem tells the cityโ€™s story in the days of the Second Temple from its prosperity until its decay and destruction. The excavation, managed by the Israel Antiquities Authority with funding from the City of David, reveals Jerusalemโ€™s changing urban pulse in the last decades before the Templeโ€™s destruction in 70 CE. Israel is filled with testimonies like this, connecting our historic past to our modern day country ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ

On the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, Israel stands with the U.S. to remember the thousands of innocent victims of that heinous terrorist attack and to reaffirm our shared commitment to fighting terrorism. The October 7th massacre in Israel is a painful reminder that terror knows no borders. Together ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ we will ensure that such darkness will never prevail.
