Replying to @dr_barrett
At one level, I agree. At another level, there is a typically a 4-6 week waiting list to start anti-cancer therapy electively in public hospitals, and the range of reimbursed drugs is more narrow in public hospitals. In private hospitals, all EMA approved drugs are generally available, and the wait is shorter. If something doesn’t go according to plan, the public ED is always available, and now it is free of charge to insurers.

Cork TD, Pádraig O'Sullivan has been a leading light in campaigning for improved access to new treatments for cancer and rare diseases on this island. We have a long way to go for access in a broken system.
"The rare diseases approval process is broken. These inordinate delays are unacceptable, they're inhumane, they're cruel." Padraig O'Sullivan TD speaking on the Claire Byrne show on Newstalk FM

Tobacco remains a leading cause of lung cancer yet its impact extends far beyond smoking history. Today we reflect on the importance of prevention, awareness & policies to reduce tobacco use while supporting those trying to quit. Because anyone with lungs can get lung cancer.
