Rhode Island families are on housing waiting lists right now.
Some have been waiting for years.
Meanwhile HUD Secretary Scott Turner just confirmed that 24,000 illegal immigrants have been living in taxpayer-funded housing, housing meant for disabled, elderly, and low-income American citizens.
Not anymore.
Turner just signed a formal agreement, on the official HUD website, ending the practice entirely.
No more federal housing assistance for illegal aliens.
No more federal housing dollars to sanctuary cities.
Every housing authority in the country must now verify eligibility for the first time.
This matters in Rhode Island.
We have a 149% home price increase in the last decade. We rank dead last in new housing construction. Families in Cranston and Warwick are spending half their paycheck on rent.
And the system that was supposed to help our most vulnerable citizens was being exploited by people who had no legal right to be here.
That ends now.
American housing dollars for American families.
