I wouldn’t be cautious about ruling out stuff that runs completely counter to your values. Yes, we need a fresh look and yes we need to be clear and transparent about the mess the NHS is in, but that doesn’t mean abandoning core beliefs or indeed the purpose of the NHS
I’d be cautious about ruling stuff out this early. Notwithstanding merits of the issue, before you’re noticed you’re up the same claustrophobic cul-de-sac of policy overcommitment as your predecessor. I’d avoid the dopamine hit of “unequivocal”, and reserve judgement for a bit.

Kinnock at Health will be interesting. Certainly seen as an articulate, competent technocrat. The return of @karinsmyth is good news. I hope she has the portfolio for NHS reform, as in opposition.

Replying to @karinsmyth
@karinsmyth and @SKinnock appointed as ministers of state to the Dept of Health and Social Care Karin, a former NHS manager in primary care, had been shadow since last year Stephen is new to the brief

This is a massive job. Constitution (so presumably Lords reform and devolution stuff) and relations with EU (intriguing that this brief isn’t in Foreign Office)
Welcome to our new Paymaster General and Minister for the Constitution and European Relations @NickTorfaen.

Hermer, Vallance and Timpaon appointments have echoes of Gordon Brown’s ‘Government of All the Talents’ 🐐🐐🐐(mercifully without Digby Jones)

Today we are seeing a lot of very dignified statements from people who must feel very bruised and disappointed. ⬇️ is a case on point. Well done @ShamaTatler - you’ll be back.

According to ⁦@LordAshcroft⁩ after the vote poll, 75% of Labour voters yesterday expect NHS waiting lists to get shorter. Time to get to work Labour. Voters have high expectations and little patience. inizioevoke.com/latest/artic…

Gosh the BBC are running out of steam. Carol Kirkwood: “it was a lot cooler in 2019 when Boris Johnson was voted in, but then again it was December.” Penetrating analysis.

I bet Keir and Vic were listening to the @incisivehealth #electioneras playlist as they got ready #TaylorSwiftErasTourLondon
‘Swift’ campaign pitstop.

My favourite addition might be Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me, made by @mslhthomas 🤣
Taylor’s Election Era is here and there’s something for everyone. Rishi can dream of gaping Back to December (2019). Keir can move his feet to Change, whilst Ed can hope the voters don’t hum I forgot you existed #TaylorSwiftErasTourLondon

Love it! Maybe Rishi should have asked his party whether they were Ready For It before calling it

As Swiftmania sweeps London, the election may take a back seat for many. But did you know that @taylorswift13 has an Election Era? There's a Taylor Swift classic for every election scenario... Spotify playlist here: rb.gy/h6zpog 🎵

Putting wealth over health - ⁦@kieran_lucia⁩ examines the reasons for the relatively low profile given to the NHS in Labour’s manifesto. Plus I argue that the lesson of 1997 is that the manifesto is the wrong place to look for radicalism on health inizioevoke.com/latest/artic…
