Paul Rogers, Michigan’s Adjutant General (Latvia’s partner); and Maj. Gen. Michael Wegscheider, Pennsylvania’s Deputy Adjutant General – Army (Lithuania’s partner). We met with senior defense leaders in each nation to advance these partnerships. Since the State Partnership Program’s founding in 1993 — with the Baltics as its birthplace — these enduring relationships have served as models for the entire program. From joint combat deployments, to building cyber capacity, aviation advising, joint exercises and warrior competitions, our National Guardsmen have conducted thousands of engagements with partner forces to strengthen interoperability, build readiness and enhance deterrence. Our Baltic partners’ steadfast commitment to collective defense and NATO burden-sharing continues to reinforce this vital transatlantic bond. Meet Maryland Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Ronnie Huggins, an information systems security officer for the 175th Communications Squadron. As the 175th Wing's mission shifted away from flying, Huggins adapted as well, focusing on the cyber mission.
