Good music, great food, and a community that I call home. Proud to celebrate my roots at the Caribbean Heritage Festival and honor Caribbean Marylanders who have made Maryland flourish 🌺✨

In this moment of fear for our immigrant communities, we will not stand by while bad actors defraud our neighbors. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever. When a family on the Shore needs answers, they will get them from a qualified attorney – not from someone preying on fear and profiting off of it.

What I saw on video this morning at Commodore John Rodgers Elementary/Middle School is deeply disturbing. Schools are places where children should feel safe, where parents should be able to drop off their kids without fear, and where educators should be able to focus on teaching — not where federal agents carry out immigration enforcement actions in front of children. My administration is in direct communication with ICE leadership to determine how this could have happened, why it happened on school grounds during drop-off, and what steps will be taken to ensure this does not happen again. Let me be clear: Maryland will work with federal law enforcement when it makes our communities safer. But actions that terrorize children, separate families in front of a school, and undermine trust in public institutions do not make us safer.

We’re seeing intense heat all across Maryland. Make sure your household is staying hydrated and check in on your loved ones and neighbors. Please bookmark this page for local cooling centers and share it with others as well: go.md.gov/LocalCoolingCenter…

The @shorebirds got some BIG updates at their stadium – made possible by investments from the Moore-Miller Administration and completed by the @MDStadiumAuth – including training space upgrades, safety improvements, and tons of new features for fans so they can have the best experience!

I had the honor of presenting a citation to Warden LaMonte Cooke — the first African American deputy in Kent County and the longest serving local corrections officer in Maryland. I was also proud to be the first Governor to attend an MCAA Awards Banquet in 49 years. MCAA and our state’s correctional professionals provide a valuable service, from championing alternatives to incarceration, supporting people pursuing careers in criminal justice, and developing programs to help those in custody. They deserve to be seen and supported, and I’m happy to do so.

I have spoken to @BaltCoPolice Chief McCullough to make sure Officer Catalfamo knows the entire state of Maryland is supporting his recovery after this weekend’s tragic shooting. I also had the opportunity to speak with the @TheMDTA Police Officer involved in Saturday’s accident at the Bay Bridge to express my thoughts for a speedy recovery. I was grateful to hear he is thankfully also recovering. Our police officers risk their lives to keep us safe and we must do whatever we are able to do to keep them safe as well. Please keep the @TheMDTA and @BaltCoPolice in your thoughts this week and stay vigilant while traveling across Maryland this summer.

Since the 90s (yes, for that long!), Howard County has been pushing for a space for families to spend some quality time outside. Skaters, pickleballers, basketball players, and more can now enjoy the summer at one of the largest playgrounds in our state.

Dawn and I are praying for the Baltimore County police officer shot earlier today in Pikesville while responding to a report of suspicious activity. We condemn violence against any and all law enforcement officers in the strongest possible terms. My team is closely monitoring the situation for updates and hope for the officer’s swift and complete recovery.

When I visited Midland, I became the first sitting Governor to do so in its recorded history. But my visit wasn't about the milestone. It was about the people. Mayor Monahan and the Midland community deserve support from the state, and our FY 2027 budget does just that by funding the restoration of George's Creek riverbed to prevent future breaches and protect local homes and public parks. Every community in Maryland deserves to be seen. This is what that looks like.

Through our partnerships with local communities and @StopOverdoseMD’s work, overdose deaths have reached a 10-year low. But the job’s not done, and we’re going to work together to continue helping those seeking recovery.

NEW I just signed an executive order to create a statewide task force on immigrant rights protection. This task force brings together state agencies, the Office of the Attorney General, the Office of the Comptroller, and other state leaders to coordinate efforts to address the fraud and exploitation of immigrant Marylanders. We will hold those who threaten the safety of all Marylanders – including our immigrant communities – accountable.

Gun violence is still taking lives across our state. We're fighting back with investments, strong partnerships across law enforcement and communities, and an all-of-the-above approach that’s delivering real results in communities all across the state, with historic decreases in homicides and non-fatal shootings. But we cannot rest on our laurels. Our administration is committed to continuing to reduce gun violence and keeping communities safe.
