I’ll never forget when I pointed out how ironic it is that people call 911 a “firefighter show,” when its lead is a cop, someone said I am defending cops. That’s not what I said. I was simply pointing out that 911 is a first responder show 😂

they have to write for and the quality suffers. No long term stories or character arcs b/c they don’t want them to change, what they want is characters to be bent in service of ships and their stan proclivities and not a longer term story. It’s a damn drama and ppl be on here

🧵of the day - 911 is a victim of its own format. Procedurals are formulaic and repetitive, self-contained episodes that limit character development. However, the best procedurals avoid this trap by making sure that even though the structure repeats, the characters don't.

If Athena gets the opening emergency in S10, don't want to hear the complaints. S9 proved that getting those episodes doesn't mean she's dominating the season. She mostly took a backseat after, supporting other characters & sometimes 1–2 scenes an episode until the final stretch.

Addendum: Best 9-1-1 Crossover imo, has been the one they did with Doctor Odyssey. Such a well, written episode with true call back to the character. I only wish they would have went with the original plan and took Bobby and Buck.

She’s the most consistently written for & fleshed out character on the show. It’s not always been good writing, but they do extend effort. Outside of S3 & S6 (which both those emergencies were boring as fuck) most of the season openings involving her work b/c of existing lore.

One of the reasons I love Athena so much as a character is that her past is always part of her present. When the show brings back storylines regarding Emmett or Tanya, it's usually a continuation that teaches her about what she's going through right now. That's continuity.
