MD 33 experiences worsening weekday congestion and heavy traffic. It is also prone to flooding issues. This poses serious safety concerns during storms and emergencies, given it is the sole evacuation route in this area. The MD Route 33 Capacity, Safety, and Evacuation Improvements Project covers MD 33 from St. Michaels to US Route 50 and includes: 🔘 Capacity improvements along the corridor 🔘 Stormwater/flood mitigation measures 🔘 Safety enhancements to address merging or cross-traffic conflicts 🔘 Pedestrian improvements, including ADA-compliant ramps and sidewalks Send a letter to the editor to help move this project forward! thevirtualcitizen.com/25for2… #25for25 #TTF #Transportation #Infrastructure #Maryland #MTBMA #InfrastructureMatters #MOVEMaryland @MTBMA1

The MD 322 (Easton Parkway)/Glenwood Avenue intersection in Easton suffers from high traffic volumes, creating long queues at Glenwood, especially during peak hours. There’s no dedicated turn lane, pedestrian crossings are unsafe, and there's poor bicycle access. Left turns back up traffic and cause crashes -- making this project a priority. Planned fixes include: ✅ New turn lane to reduce backups and improve flow. ✅ Safer crosswalks with ADA-compliant upgrades. ✅ Better traffic operations through geometric redesign. ✅ Improved multimodal access for pedestrians and cyclists. Somerset County has repeatedly flagged the intersection where MD 413 southbound meets MD 361 (Fairmount Road) as unsafe. Drivers turning onto MD 361 currently have no dedicated deceleration lane, creating hazardous conditions — particularly given the posted speed limits on MD 413. This fix is critical to improve safety and reduce crashes. Have you driven here and thought the same? Send a letter to the editor of your local papers. We made it easy.
