It was an honour to attend the Gathering for Treaty and Unity Rally hosted by the Siksikaitsitapi Ohkin'niinaiks society. Now more than ever, treaty rights in Alberta are at risk and it's critical that we come together in support.

The cuts Danielle Smith and the UCP made to AISH are indefensible and unconscionable. #AbLeg edmontonjournal.com/news/loc…

So even if Smith doesn't spin the question the way she did with the separatist question... Albertans are looking at least 2 more years before they're able to vote on the Water Not Coal question. And at most? 4 years. Because Smith believes in democracy. /fin

But wait! It gets worse! Given that the legislature is only in session 1 year away from the next election, & given that the committee can only be formed & give their results within that period... That means the committee results can only come during the black out period. /3

So what does that process say? Well, once the petition is verified, it goes to the Speaker, who then presents it in the Legislature when it's in session. That's October 27th, well after the referendum has been completed. /2

Today, Smith announced that she is not going to allow Albertans to vote on the Water not Coal petition for literally YEARS. How do we know? Let's start with the clip from "Your Province, Your Premier" where she states she'll follow the process in the act... /1 #abpoli #ableg

I cannot think a government in Alberta that is so incapable of stabilizing the healthcare system. I can’t think of one that is so chaotic where firing exceeds hiring rates. Every single health related headline is about chaos. Albertans deserve better! cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/a…

This should never have happened. My heart and thoughts are with the loved ones of the person who died, and all Albertans living with a disability. Every Albertan deserves a life of dignity. But this government is always more focused on scoring political points than considering the real-world impacts of their decisions, like this forced transition from AISH to ADAP. The government must change course. They can stop this dangerous transition, develop a better program, and treat all Albertans living with a disability with the respect they deserve. ctvnews.ca/calgary/article/m…

The shortsighted rebranding of ambulances and paramedic services won't shorten wait times in the ER, and it won't make ambulances arrive any faster. What Albertans need is rebuilding and reinvesting in our public health care system.

Just to be clear, @ABDanielleSmith There is NOT 700 000 petition signers requesting a referendum. There’s not even 300 000 separatist signatures. In fact, not one signature has been verified. Your casual lies are extraordinary! And copious!!

Elections should be decided by the public, not the government. Today, the UCP made it clear they’re willing to cheat to stay in power, completely undermining our democracy.

First, three million Albertans had their personal information exposed in a massive data breach. Now, CBC reports that foreign accounts are making money by promoting Alberta separatism on Facebook. Albertans didn't ask to become a product. We shouldn't have to worry about who has our personal information, and we shouldn't have to wonder whether online outrage is being driven by people who don't even live here. The UCP has a responsibility to protect Albertans' data and to take seriously the growing influence of those profiting from division. Alberta's future belongs to Albertans, not to online grifters looking to make a quick buck. cbc.ca/news/canada/facebook-…

Elections Alberta says the October referendum will require hiring at least 60,000 workers and printing 45 million ballots. That will cost Albertans nearly five times what the last provincial election cost — up to $100 million — all so Danielle Smith can keep her deal with the separatists. Imagine what that money could do for healthcare, education, or addressing the affordability crisis. The UCP and Danielle Smith have the wrong priorities.

Looks like the United Conservative Party is not so united. Even if Smith is successful in purging her party of separatists, never forget that she’s the one who invited them into the centre of power. Never give an arsonist credit for attempting to extinguish the fire they started.
