My deep gratitude to the stellar award committee - @TaberezNeyazi @iamedson & @KateKenski - for seeing the value in this personal, painful, and hopefully useful book. These past few years have not been easy - in academia, journalism, or frankly, the world - and it is truly encouraging to see this somewhat-risky, often-controvertial, sometimes-depressing piece of work being celebrated - particularly when so many exceptional books came out in our field this year.
