How about introducing a Private Members Bill to provide equitable access to palliative care across England and Wales? Rather than starting with a Private Members Bill for Assisted Dying? The sequence would be hugely important, given that so many cannot access basic care.

Are we getting a skewed understanding of dying from the stories that gain media attention? I was delighted and honoured to be invited to close the day at End Well 2025 @endwellproject Here's my take. bit.ly/EndWellStorytellers

Remember: fear sits in the dark hole of 'not knowing.' The more we understand, the less there is to fear. To watch, type bit.ly/DyingTED into your browser. Let me know whether it brings you any new insights.

This image by my friend @mlalanda is reproduced all over the Internet without attribution, sometimes even claimed by other artists. Why? Because it is brilliant. #GraphicMedicine at its finest: so many deep ideas captured in two panels. Let's share it widely, with her name on it.

I'm preparing a talk about public understanding of dying, & I thought I might refer to this thread about how, despite her extraordinary life, #QueenElizabeth showed us so much about #OrdinaryDying. I discovered many kind comments - too many to respond to, but thank you all.
What can we learn from the death of the #Queen? The world has watched her live through the process of #OrdinaryDying, and yet dying went unspoken, un-named. Let's notice what nobody mentioned: we all saw the Queen going through the stages of ordinary dying. A ๐Ÿงต... 1/

Listen up. How should we - everybody/anybody - talk about dying? When should we begin? Should it be in school curricula? When should your doctor discuss the life-limiting possibilities of your diagnosis? And can we stop mistaking 'dying' for 'cardiac arrest'? #SickSociety pod โฌ‡๏ธ
No matter how #healthy you are, #death is an inevitably. But do we really understand what death and dying look like, and how do we learn more about the most natural of processes when talking about death remains taboo for many. @drkathrynmannix joins us to talk us through the end.

An important aspect on the 'consent' element, ie consenting that we roll over and accept anything that Westminster end up coming up with, is that we have yet no idea what the detail of this Bill is.
