The plan by @dignityindyng to bring back the original, deeply flawed Medically Assisted Dying bill is akin to failing to to sell your MOT-failed old car and putting it back on the market claiming it's brand new and 'the safest' on the market. MAD indeed.

@ukmfa1 Dr Liz Evans speaking to Dr Joel Zivot about how paralyzing drugs are used in Assisted Suicide to create an outward appearance of peace for witnesses, potentially masking profound internal distress of the patient as they suffocate to death. How Assisted Suicide robs people and their loved ones of an important spiritual experience in a natural death supported with compassionate, holistic, high quality palliative care. "...our culture which is so medicalised and sterilised, wants to get rid of the problem quickly....we are actually losing something from not allowing people to go through death [naturally] with support and care and a level of drugs that stops anything being overwhelming..." ‼️WATCH full discussion on the Truth of Assisted Suicide Drugs here‼️ukmfa1.substack.com/p/dr-joe…

Seems to be getting very messy and unsavoury. Not good when it comes to attempting to bring about such a wide-reaching change in the law, on a matter or life and death. #AssistedDying

Trying to resurrect the Assisted Suicide Bill would be a "Crisis? What crisis?" moment for any MP daft enough to try. My article for @Telegraph just out telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/06…

The fate of the “assisted dying” bill now falls in the hands of Lauren Edwards MP. Her local constituency polls strongly against the bill. 📉 Residents of her area gathered outside her office to appeal to her not to resurrect yet another “assisted dying” debate 👇
NEW: Andrew George will *not* reintroduce the assisted dying bill. The Lib Dem MP, who was drawn fourth in the private members' bill ballot, tells me he'll instead introduce an affordable housing bill looking at second and holiday homes alongside delivering more social homes.

A child’s first 1001 days - pregnancy to age two, are critical in laying their life’s foundations. Winning the PMB was an enormous privilege. I want to unite Parliament around a world-first Bill to recognise this, and enshrine support for the 1001 critical days in law. 🧵 1/6

'I’m truly bowled over by the outpouring of support and affection since revealing my dementia diagnosis. 'Receiving a dementia diagnosis can turn your world upside down, but I really do believe it’s better to know. 'Too many people are experiencing delays in diagnosis - on average 3.5 years - meaning they’re left in limbo without the help they need. 'An early diagnosis can open the door to treatment, support, care and the chance to take part in research that could change the future.  'People living with dementia and their families have waited long enough for change. We must demand better for everyone affected. 'I would urge everyone to join me in signing Alzheimer’s Society’s open letter calling on government to deliver a bold and ambitious plan for dementia.’ @jonsnowC4

Thank you, Ashley 🙏
I spoke at a petition debate brought in the wake of the Assisted Dying Bill debates in the last parliamentary session. I'm pleased that the state of palliative care is now at the heart of the political agenda. End of life care MUST be better and more accessible for all.

Sir Alan, Leader of the House of Commons, speaking on behalf of govt: 2. "Members need to reflect on whether a PMB is the route for [this] legislation" 3. "It is not the Government’s job to pick up this Bill, after it has been through this first, stalled, failed, stage"

Yesterday, some hard truths for hardcore Assisted Dying campaigners from both the Government and supporters. 1. An MP in the ballot picking up this Bill, has very little chance of success. They'd be wasting their slot...1/

Put the assisted dying bill out of its misery, please.
We were down in Rochester & Strood today - where MP Lauren Edwards is under the most pressure to revive the failed assisted death Bill and push it through into law. Local residents turned out with The OH's @fionamacmac & @TheNotDeadYetUK, to ask her not to return this Bill.

We don’t make laws by opinion poll. Parliament did its job by properly scrutinising the Assisted Dying Bill. If laws were rushed through simply because they were popular, so many would pass without proper consideration of the real-world consequences. 👇

Is it an excellent piece of legislation, or is it lacking significantly in safety measures? #AssistedDying
And yet, the same Dr Simon Opher MP published an opinion piece in the BMJ in September 2025 arguing that key questions - such as on capacity and NHS provision - remained unclear in the Bill as sent to the Lords 🤔
