Are there worse medical misnomers than giving a healthy, active kid a “disease” for having heel pain while growing? Sever’s isn’t a disease. Stop pathologising childhood. 👇 nuh.nhs.uk/severs-disease/

Hot tip for new clinicians: When managing insertional Achilles tendinopathy, the goal is to elevate the heel ABOVE the toe inside the shoe. 👟 Rocker-bottom shoes? ⬇️ midfoot/forefoot load 👎 But they often lack heel-to-toe drop ⚠️ Don’t confuse stack height with heel elevation

Speaking from experience, this is an excellent course for anyone who works with runners. Physiotherapists, orthotists, podiatrists ✅
Our last course on the south coast filled really quickly and had a big waiting list so we've added new dates in Southampton this May. Visit tickettailor.com/events/runn… to find out more and book your place.

Can I run if I have arthritis? Sure.. if you can. Will running make my arthritis worse? No, not usually. As usual... the science is much more complicated than you think. youtu.be/7cCSzXVTdfs?si=IRAp…

Likely ACL & MCL 😬
Fabien Galthie confirms that it’s a ‘serious’ knee injury for Antoine Dupont. Also says that France will be citing Tadhg Beirne for the clean out that caused it. It’s a bad one, off his feet and at the lower limbs. #GuinnessM6N x.com/i/status/1898386583977…

We should have some caution. We lack good prospective work. It’s easier to defend that it’s not problematic rather than protective.

Patients suffering OA are too often coddled (like many other age related problems); advised to take it easy, with fear avoidance behaviours imposed upon them. This isn’t the way. Some will need TKR, but many can delay or avoid completely with comprehensive rehab. 14/

Our patients aren't colleagues. We don't need to display our exceptional knowledge and demonstrate just how 'right' we are. 🤓🧾 The best clinicians I've worked with talk in very simple and understandable terms with patients. Their words may be imperfect to the academic (or the clinician who prefers being right more than effective), but they are far more useful 5/5

Instead of jumping into 'explaining pain', start with what actually matters to them. Try this: 🗣️ "Your back pain is real, and I know it’s frustrating. The good news? Your scans don’t show anything serious, which means we can focus on getting you stronger and moving better, and back to what you love" Still ✅ right - but now actually useful.🤝. . 4/5
