Not only accelerate, it must recognize systemic barriers to economic growth and stability, and re-invest in the Urban Native Housing programs that are set to expire in 2028, AND commit at least 1/3 of all current funding frameworks to Deep affordable housing programs.
🏠 Closing the urban, rural, and northern Indigenous housing gap must remain a national priority.
The CHRA is calling on the federal government to accelerate investments in urban, rural, and northern Indigenous housing.

A new Indigenous-led supportive housing project is moving forward in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
Ho Kee M̓elh Kloshe Lum will provide 40 shelter spaces and 60 supportive homes, with culturally informed supports for Indigenous residents.

Today, March 27, at the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres, Minister Gull‑Masty announced a national investment of $168 million over five years that will support operational funding to Urban Indigenous Friendship Centres across the country.
This national investment provides major support for Friendship Centres and is recognition of their essential role in delivering culturally safe programs.
