People keep asking how you remove an MSU trustee. Two ways:
1. The governor boots them for gross neglect or corrupt conduct. Only path ever used. Board asked Whitmer to remove Vassar and Denno. She passed.
2. Statewide recall. Needs ~1M signatures for one trustee. Never going to happen.
I’m all for a petition. Symbolically, it embarrasses public officials who deserve the embarrassment.
But good luck getting Vassar or Denno to feel shame. An investigation proved they orchestrated attacks against colleagues and encouraged students to personally go after a faculty leader who'd opposed them.
This unhinged revenge plot cost the school 7-figures to litigate.
They called the professor “racist”.
When they were investigated for harassing him, they blamed racism.
When the investigation found evidence of their misconduct, the evidence was racist.
Now, Vassar is threatening to sue the school for $25 million, claiming it’s racist.
The professor, the investigation, the law firm investigating, the evidence, their Black colleague, the school. All racist.
Not exactly the most introspective, accountable people.
I feel like the burner verse and MSU community as a whole could help change the current state of MSU with a petition.
If
@DarkoStateNews and
@OdellBretthamJr start a petition to have Rema Vasser resign her position, it could get thousands of signatures
