Zeteo reports that ousted 60 Minutes correspondent Cecilia Vega was in the middle of producing a high-profile segment on Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories and a prominent critic of Israel’s conduct in Gaza, when she was abruptly fired. The report, by journalist Justin Baragona, offers new insight into the upheaval at CBS News following its acquisition by Israel supporter David Ellison and the installation of Bari Weiss as editor-in-chief.
“Bari [Weiss] just doesn’t think women of color deserve to be in those spaces.” @justinbaragona unpacks the latest CBS News shakeup, including correspondent Cecilia Vega’s firing amid work on a 60 Minutes profile of UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese.

NBC News has been bringing on a consultant for both Susan Collins and the Israeli ministry of foreign to attack Graham Platner. You can’t make this stuff up.

“NBC’s Matt Gorman” is an outrageous way to describe this man to NBC viewers when he has most recently been a registered foreign agent for the state of Israel. That NBC doesn’t disclose that, and that they allow him on air to attack Platner, is exactly why normal people support Platner and want him to take a wrecking ball to this corruption. Gorman’s contract with the Israeli ministry of foreign affairs appears to have recently terminated, so perhaps this is a try out for a new one. To let him on air and not disclose this is shameful.
NBC's @MattGorman on Graham Platner... "I think Susan Collins is going to beat him like a drum, and I believe that even before the story came out yesterday. I mean, you're right. This was an incredible story with, you know, abuse allegations and infidelity. Two of the other things I took away from it, besides he just seems to be a liar, is the fact that (a) his comments that he did not dispute about if someone broke into his apartment, he would quote, he would essentially rape them, and it was about dominance, not sex. Incredible. What an egregious, awful statement to make. And the other thing is, to Megan's point, it's a further confirmation past a CNN article a few weeks ago that he knew what the Nazi tattoo was and did not dispute that until he disputed it with Chris Hayes last night as well." "And I think part of the anger you get from some in the GOP is we remember folks like what Sheldon Whitehouse did during the Kavanaugh hearings when he went five questions deep on what 'boofing' was. And yesterday, when stopped in a hallway, he said the story was a lot of nothing. And so it's the -- a -- morality on someone like his part when we -- there's one standard when it was Kavanaugh in 2018 and quite another when it's Graham Platner." "Infidelity? I will not condone that. Whether it's Graham Platner or Ken Paxton. I haven't heard allegations Ken Paxton abusing women. I haven't heard Ken Paxton going on kik, which is, quote, called 'a paradise for child predators.' I won't excuse infidelity, but I'm also not going to draw a line between Graham Platner's abuse -- abuse allegations and what Ken Paxton did either."

Video from a court in Jerusalem shows Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya appearing by video link and attempting to speak with his lawyer before Israeli court security blocked the screen and cut the connection, preventing journalists from filming. His attorney repeatedly told the court he could neither see nor hear Abu Safiya after the video feed was cut, saying his captors had “turned off the camera,” further fueling concerns over the imprisoned Gaza doctor’s treatment after he appeared emaciated and bore apparent signs of physical abuse.
Just in: A video from inside a court in occupied Jerusalem shows Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya appearing via video link and attempting to speak with his attorney before Israeli court security blocked the screen and terminated the call, preventing journalists from filming the exchange or the video appearance. I listened carefully to what the attorney was saying to Dr. Abu Safiya. It appeared that Dr. Abu Safiya could not hear him. The attorney repeatedly stated that he could neither see nor hear Dr. Abu Safiya after his “captors turned off the camera.” He also informed him that some people were present in the courtroom to show their support and that they were waiting for the judge to arrive so that he could be brought back on screen before the court addressed the appeal. This is Israel’s democracy. Dr. Abu Safiya has been subjected to starvation, abuse, and cruel torture, and this latest development only adds to concerns about the conditions he has endured and the lack of public scrutiny surrounding his case.

Fuck you, @washingtonpost . Amal did not ‘die,’ she was deliberately targeted and murdered after receiving threats from the Israeli army. She was in touch with us, her colleagues, during this situation. We all know exactly what happened. Shame on you for intentionally diminishing the criminality of the actions of the Israeli army with this headline. Shame on all of you and your correspondents in Beirut. I hope to see you on trial for your propaganda in my lifetime.

Horrifying scenes from South Lebanon. Israel is carpet bombing Tyre, wiping entire civilian neighborhoods off the map. No military necessity. No restraint. Just relentless terror. This is an American-backed, American-funded genocide.

🚨 The first image of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya to emerge since his detention, taken during the ongoing proceedings before Israel’s High Court of Justice in Jerusalem, shows him visibly emaciated, in stark contrast to his appearance before he was taken into Israeli custody. His son warned this week that the life of Dr. Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, is in grave danger. He has been held in Israeli detention since December 2024 after refusing to abandon his patients in northern Gaza. The family says Israeli authorities transferred him to solitary confinement in Nafha Prison in retaliation for filing a legal appeal with Israel’s High Court. According to the family, Dr. Abu Safiya is being held in a two-meter cell, forcibly starved like thousands of other Palestinian prisoners, and denied basic necessities, including clean water, medicine, and access to his lawyer.

New footage obtained by B’Tselem uncovers the moments when the Abu Haikal family was shot. Seven-month-old Sam Abu Haikal was killed in the shooting, and both his parents were injured. The footage clearly shows that the Israeli soldier fired at the car as it was slowing to a stop. The car was far from the soldiers and posed no danger to them whatsoever. Moments later, in another video obtained by B’Tselem, seven-month-old Sam’s father, Fahed, is seen just after his son was shot. Fahed is holding baby Sam in his arms, trying to stop the bleeding from his head with his hands, while Sam’s mother, Daniyah, who was also injured by the gunfire while holding her son, is seen sitting on the ground, next to the car. Last Friday, 5 June, an Israeli soldier fired at a Palestinian family driving home from a family visit, as they sat in their car in the Tel Rumeidah neighborhood in Hebron. The family was shot as the car was slowing to a stop at the soldier’s command. Sam, a seven‑month‑old baby who was in his mother’s arms in the back seat, was struck in the head and pronounced dead shortly afterward. Sam’s parents were also injured by the gunfire; his mother is still in the hospital. After the shooting, the soldier who fired and another soldier who was with him left the scene without checking the car or offering any assistance to the critically wounded baby or to his mother. In the past two and a half years, Israel has killed tens of thousands of children in Gaza and the West Bank. The immunity it gets from the international community has led to a reality where, under Israeli rule, Palestinian lives are entirely disposable – even a seven‑month‑old baby.

🔴 According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the Israeli army has killed at least 17 people and wounded approximately 50 more in the city of Tyre. This morning, the Israeli army again sent a forced displacement order for the entire city, this time including the Christian quarter, which had not been previously included in displacement orders. Currently they are bombing all over the city. I just received a report that the densely populated al Buss refugee camp was bombed so the casualty toll from today is sure to rise.
