"I went to a Pride parade that was cancelled once!"
Bitch, we were ACTUALLY beaten by police. We were ACTUALLY firehosed by authorities. We ACTUALLY had the shit beaten out of us by skinheads & people that YOU support with bats...and I still remember every bruise & broken bone
"And what the fuck would you know about advocating for gay rights?"
In the mid/late 2010s, I founded and directed LoveisLoveisLove, an LGBTQ-advocacy campaign that was responsible for large-scale art/educational installations throughout Ontario. Among other things, I produced what appears to have been the largest art installation ever installed inside Toronto City Hall, as well as Toronto's "Big Gay Bus" (a commuter bus repurposed as a mobile educational resource). I even put together a scholarship focused on LGBT youth in STEM.
In the 2020s, I covered LGBTQ activism in Ukraine, Taiwan, and Serbia, producing educational installations for each of these countries that were then displayed at Toronto Pride. I also reported on EuroPride's 2022 Belgrade edition, where thousands of police officers, who mostly hated gay people, had to be brought into the city to ensure that violent counter-protesters did not beat the shit out of us. The event was nearly cancelled because of safety concerns, but I was determined to attend no matter what.
I have volunteered countless hours, and put myself in physical danger, in defence of gay rights. You, on the other hand, have... written some angry social media posts?
My criticisms of the LGBTQ activist class are rooted in real-world, personal experiences. When I moved in those circles, I witnessed how impractical, insane, and self-defeating those people were/are, which is why I demand better.
