The Recorder’s office responds to the lies told by Board of Supervisors. 1. The equipment in question is owned by the Recorder’s office 2. It was in storage, not being used in the election. 3. The BOS sat on the information for 3 months. Only to trot it out when the BOS is loosing in court, faces contempt & loosing public opinion. 4. No LIVE ballots were taken from the locked cage. It was THREE rejected provisionals. Used to copy the barcode to test the scanners accuracy in rejections. 4. The BOS was not “forced to replace” the scanner because of “tampering”. They simply purchased one for the BOS when they realized they didn’t own the scanner. When did the board know this machine was not theirs? Who did they talk to about LIVE ballots? Who told them they were LIVE? Obviously they never asked Heap or his staff about them. They knew the scanner was not theirs and yet they proceeded with public slander/interview/release of video without proper context & started “investigations” on employees. Since when do cops come to your door to tell you that you are under investigation? You do when you want to intimidate them. In this response Heap also made a statement regarding the BOS targeting election staff. It is dirty tactics to intimidate works to defy Heap’s orders & cause more division & chaos within the office. Backtracking on their “live ballots claim” because their report said “possible”. Heavy allegation with no facts where used to start a scandal where there was none.
