Big Malandra Jacks news! ⭐️
We are finalists for this years Manchester Culture Awards in the category for Best Performance for Census! 😱
The awards ceremony is in November…so fingers crossed. Special thanks to team Census and especially Kate, Roxy and Tamsin for everything!
We were invited to @battersea_arts for a conversation around working-class representation in theatre. Hearing from other working-class creatives reaffirmed the changes needed within the industry. It’s fuelled us even more to get Census touring!

We had a great time tonight at the Christmas Light Switch on @MCCMoston. Our young people had a good walk, enjoyed the Carol sing-along with @MalandraJacks & enjoyed the #sparkles that the #Christmas light brings🎄🤶🎅
BEYOND thrilled to be part of Inside Out: This Is Manchester as part of @factoryintl The Welcome. We were nominated by the brilliant @ShadaAziz4 to have our portraits taken in August. “Everyone photographed is someone who radiates love for Manchester”, we certainly do! ⭐️
The Malandra Jacks picture house as part of The Welcome. We shared our best bits from stage/screen, ate popcorn for breakfast, and even had a red carpet bath mat just for extra pizzazz. Thanks to those who came and to @factoryintl for having us. #popcorn#bestbits#cinema
This Sunday 12th November we will be hosting the Malandra Jacks Picture House @factoryintl in the main social space between 10-12pm, complete with screenings of our films, popcorn and activities for families! It’s free and no need to book, see you there! 🍿🎥🎬 #community#Cinema
Had such a brilliant time this weekend at @NationalTheatre for The Big Speak Up Get Together. Artists, facilitators and teachers all came together to share, upskill, and get inspired for this years Speak Up projects across the uk!

💛 HARPURHEY SUPPORT SPACE 💛
We are sending love to all young people impacted.
Please share with those who may need it 🫶
ALT Plain Text: Monday 18th - Friday 22nd September, 330-630pm Harpurhey Neighbourhood Project (M9 5UX)
Following the loss of Nathaniel Shani on Friday evening, our combined organisations are holding support space for young people in the area who we know will be experiencing pain and grief.
Harpurhey Neighbourhood Project will be open on the times listed above for young people impacted. Together, we will work to hold all emotions felt, without judgement. Whether you want to talk, sit, be still, cry, vent: our staff and supporters will be with you. We know this is complex, as some young people know both Nathaniel and the individuals under investigation, and we will be sensitive to that.
Hot food and drinks will be provided, and transport costs supported.
This evening we went to @ContactMcr to see @MalandraJacks amazing Census - a play all about class told through the brilliant histories of the people of Moston

V. lucky to see Census by @MalandraJacks@ContactMcr last night. This review says it all. So great hearing the voices of Moston residents and hearing about all the great work going on. This work needs supporting now more than ever @AndyBurnhamGM
Enthusiastically incorporating voices of local residents, (& wonderfully framed by David Hall's projections), @MalandraJacks' CENSUS at @ContactMcr imaginatively documents & celebrates the community of Moston. Warm-hearted & thought-provoking, it feels like a true labour of love.
