MapSpoto has just received a major update!
I’ve added activity type selection, and replaced the regular map pins with emoji icons that represent the different types of activities. This makes it much more intuitive to see at a glance what kind of event it is.
Feel free to download the new version, try it out, and let me know your feedback!

MapSpoto version 1.3.0 has been released. The main changes are as follows:
1. Addressed security issues based on reports from third-party tools such as yarn audit, Gitleaks, Semgrep, and MobSF.
2. Simplified the logic for setting actual location and default location, making it more intuitive and easier to understand.
3. Added recurring options for events.
4. Unified the offline experience layer and improved usability when the network is unavailable.
5. Improved map refresh, state transitions, and detail loading performance.
6. Other optimizations, including improvements to the emoji quick bar and keyboard compatibility.

I’m a solo dev who built an app with AI — why is everyone so skeptical?
I'm an amateur developer who built a free local events app with AI help. No monetization, just wanted to bring my idea to life.
When I shared it locally, I got a lot of pushback about "AI apps being unsafe" and privacy risks.
I take safety seriously and used multiple different AIs to cross-check the code repeatedly, but the backlash still surprised me.
Honest question: Are people now generally against apps made with AI?
Would love real opinions from devs and users.

Update: My app finally got approved on iOS after the EU verification delay 😅
Perfect timing — I was literally complaining about it yesterday.
Now live on both iOS & Android.
Next step: trying to get the first real users in my city (Hannover).
Let’s see if this works 👀
Freue mich über Feedback aus Hannover 🙂

Today I added three free tools to my website mapspoto.com: 1, Google Analytics (GA4),
2, Microsoft Clarity,
3, Google Search Console (GSC).
Here’s how they differ:
GA4
Shows what users do after they arrive.
Clarity
Shows how users interact with your pages.
Google Search Console
Shows how users find you on Google.
