Community support and classic cars came together for a strong turnout at this year’s event.
The Fraternal Order of Police Cherokee Lodge No. 4 held its 16th Annual Car Show at Fred Miller Park on May 9, awarding plaques to 37 vehicles, including a Top 25 selection.
Event organizers noted strong participation from local entrants as well as participants from surrounding Lakeway Area counties. The first 25 entries received dash plaques and were entered into drawings for local gift cards, with additional support raised through a silent auction.
The lodge expressed appreciation to all who attended and supported the event, with plans already underway for next year’s show scheduled for May 8, 2027.

Local sources have confirmed that an Afghan citizen who also held Australian nationality was killed in the Jaghori district of Ghazni province. Mohammad Ali Atai had travelled back to his hometown after many years, believing that the country was finally safe to visit.
According to reports, he was shot dead by unknown armed men, and the exact motive behind this incident remains unclear. Officials from the Taliban government have not yet commented on the killing of this young man, raising further public security concerns.
Recently, mysterious killings by unknown individuals have increased across the country. The Australian Foreign Ministry had previously warned its citizens to strictly avoid travelling to Afghanistan, describing the security situation as highly dangerous due to terrorism and kidnapping.
