Congratulations @UVA_TCV_Surgery and @OPreventzaMD! No doubt we will see you on the podium @AATSHQ & @STS_CTsurgery in the coming years AND the Halsted Society this Sept!(in your new backyard) Good luck - this definitely is an adventure!
Heading home from Parker Lecture at SUNY Upstate - amazing history to be walking the halls of Dr Elizabeth Blackwell and down the street from where Dr Mary Edwards Walker became our first female surgeon. I am humbled.
❤️this initiative! The only way for diversity flourish➡️make the path to becoming CTS more equitable. So cool that leaders in our field (@JoChikweMD@SKeshavjee@OuzounianMD) recognized it & set about making it better. 2 paraphrase @MarcMoonMD it won’t improve passively!

Final thoughts:
As @MarcMoonMD mentioned during #AATS2022, promoting female inclusivity, productivity, & promotion in #CTsurgery will not occur passively. It requires active targeted approaches, especially during adverse times that disproportionately impact #womeninsurgery (5/5)
Unbelievable presentation by our fellow Tim Lancaster at the @AATSHQ annual mtg. So smoove at answering the discussant's questions that I thought he had been given the questions ahead of time (honestly!). So glad Tim accepted our offer to stay @MottChildren.
ALT Dynamic measurement of resting heart rate variability may offer an objective measure of burnout in thoracic surgery residents. Residents had decreased heart rate variability and less REM sleep with increased emotional exhaustion but maintained the ability to meet Milestones at or above the level expected of their post-graduate year.
If the word "burnout" sets your teeth on edge as a physician, I hear you! Got 10min? Take a listen to what's in progress. The goal? Stop having people tell us "be more resilient" & find real data-driven solutions. #AATS2022#MedTwitter@arena_labsyoutu.be/y7vuzi71yc4
We are very proud of our NIH T32 fellow, Dr. Kimberly Rebello, she received Nicholas Kouchoukos Paper Award at AATS Aortic Symposium for her study examining SMC death in aneurysm development. Presented by AATS past president Dr. D. Craig Miller.

Emotional exhaustion ⬆️ competency-based performance in our thoracic surgery fellows @WashU_CT@WashUSurgery with a response similar to pro athletes ⛹️‍♂️. A powerful talk on burnout and performance optimization from incredible mentors @LaurenBarronMD@MarcMoonMD
