Toward the end of my time at MongoDB I collaborated a bit with the venture arm. The first and only investment I sourced was Golioth. As an angel in several companies, I'd never made an investment in a company whose product I didn't try to use — unless they were pre-product (like Parrot) or unavailable in my market (like ChipperCash). I tried Golioth.
Golioth was onto something very special. Canonical, one of the most underpriced private software businesses, was also onto a massive opportunity. I am happy they have joined forces. I cannot wait for the IPO.
I don't talk too much about my investments these days because I have been so busy building. But in a coming tweet, I will share the non-obvious companies that I think will define the next generation of computing.
