Day 3 of the D2 push has passed and even though there were 60k less players than day 2, almost 1 million players is nothing to scoff at and is still the most D2 has had in almost 2 years.
It'll be pretty interesting to see how it changes with the weekend coming up!

I think I've said this before but obviously not enough to warrant another expansion (less players logging in for a free update than $20-$30 updates), but still good to show there's at least interest in continuing the franchise in a different form.

SteamDB only tracks how many people are on at one time. Past a week, it's the highest amount of people on at one time. "40,686" isn't how many people played on Steam in total. It's the highest number of people logged in at one time

Regarding PVE discussion in DMZ, Marathon's PVE test was a bit illuminating:
-"Sweats" are able to get better gear and curbstomp casuals quicker/harder than before
-PVE is/can get pretty boring in a game not really made for PVE
I guess people just want to play their game without some assholes coming and ruining your day. I get why people like extraction games but not everyone is a highly skilled, competitive player (sweat) and those people ruin games for other people (casuals)

Marathon is also taking several months to actually test and implement a PVE mode because it's something relatively hard to do for a game built with PVPVE in mind. I'd rather IW not waste a good chunk of DMZ's 1-year lifecycle to playtest PVE instead of developing more PVPVE

Sony and Bungie leadership obviously is to blame as well, but when I think back on it, I think I quit D2 because of the dev decisions as well. EOF pretty much killed it for me because of how baffling some of Bungie's choices were in regards to system changes and the gameplay

Finished reading the last D2 lore. Not a fan of how they vaguely wrapped up some characters while completely wrapping up others. I also don’t like that some of the major characters like Mithrax or Caiatl aren’t mentioned at all.
