Listen to all of this from Ella Baker: “You have to go back and reach out to your neighbors who don’t speak to you! And you have to reach out to your friends... get them to understand that they, as well as you and I, cannot be free in America, or anywhere else, where there is capitalism and imperialism.”

Last thing before I'm sentenced: Don't worry about me while I'm in jail, we will be okay. Worry about what YOU are doing - or failing to do - every day the Palestinian Holocaust continues. “What are the pretenses that absolve us from participating in history?” - @m7mdkurd

The Democrats spent the last 4 years massively accelerating the expansion of the police state and surveillance infrastructure around the U.S.— and now they get to hand it all over to the fascist they’ve been “warning us about”. They were never going to “protect us from fascism”.

Tonight, Mayor Adams succeeded in his stealth attempt to get New Yorkers to cede more power to him. The Mayor rushed through ballot proposals that obscured their true purpose — to weaken checks and balances in NYC and make it harder to hold government and the police accountable.

Now, advocates and the NYCLU will redouble our efforts to make sure the Mayor, the NYPD & the Department of Corrections are answerable to New Yorkers. Next up: Reforming the City Charter revision process to make sure this kind of deceptive mayoral power grab can’t happen again.

Well it seems that tonight the Democrats are learning the hard way that aiding and abetting the genocide of Palestinians is in fact politically costly.

Just got off the phone with my friend on the ground in Gaza. No one else’s perspective I care about today. They said everyone knows the bombs will keep falling no matter which fascist wins the election, and they are all waiting for the “solidarity” movement to escalate.

Today's election in the belly of the imperialist beast called the USA, is not an election to overturn the imperialist system. It is at best to determine who will be the watch manager and face of the imperialist system. A system that they themselves have no real control over

CAPITALISM REQUIRES RACISM AND INEQUALITY According to Dr Ruth Wilson Gilmore, capitalism requires inequality to function, and racism enshrines that inequality. Or, as the great Pan-Africanist Malcolm X put it, ‘You can’t have capitalism without racism.’ In this clip from a recent talk, Gilmore, a scholar at @GC_CUNY, who has been studying the relationship between racism, capitalism, and the US prison system for over 30 years, explained that capitalism needs to keep people divided into categories to continue exploiting them. If nothing separates us, one can imagine the dangers a united working class might pose to the capitalist system. In addition to dividing modern workers, capitalists needed to deploy racism to develop the initial capital used to create their now global system. Thus came chattel slavery in the Americas, g*nocide across multiple continents, and colonial theft around the world.  In the words of assassinated Burkina Faso President Thomas Sankara (1949-87), ‘It is our blood that nourished the rise of capitalism, that made possible our present condition of dependence and consolidated our underdevelopment. But we cannot hide the truth any more; it cannot be ignored. The figures cannot be simply haggled away. For every Black man who came to the plantations, five died or were crippled.’

The US Presidential election could well be determined by just a few thousand people in Georgia. Atlanta Democrats have disenfranchised 116,000 people in order to build Cop City. Demoralizing the very people they hope save them in this election. theintercept.com/2024/11/04/…
