California continues to battle wildfire activity across vast swaths of Northern and Southern regions. In 2025 alone, over 7,000 wildfires have scorched more than half a million acres, with many fires now contained but the risk still very high - especially in the southern Sierra, inland valleys, and coastal zones prone to grass and timber fires. The danger doesn’t end when the flames die down, however. A less obvious, yet far-reaching threat remains: smoke lingers long after the fire is out, infiltrating homes with a toxic mixture of heavy metals, carcinogens, and ultrafine particles. These pollutants, if not filtered out effectively, embed deep within walls, upholstery, and HVAC systems - silently triggering chronic respiratory diseases, cardiovascular issues, and neurological damage. Insurance may label a home “safe,” but families returning to these residences face an invisible and ongoing health hazard. Families deserve clear, urgent information and must demand effective filtration - currently only offered by purifiers with HEPA 14 filters - to truly reclaim their homes and health. If you’re exploring reliable clean air technology to safeguard your home, we’re here to help. #CaliforniaWildfires #Airpollution

25 years ago: - An American software engineer would cost 120K/USD a year. - An Indian software engineer would cost 20K/USD. - Massive cost savings for American firms if they outsourced. So they did. The labour "arbitrage" was real & useful for Americans. 2025: the model has changed. This labour arbitrage is shrinking massively. The US is looking to in-source its production. Like always, US cares for the US. They do things that is right for them. We should do things that are right for us. It starts by cleaning our house: low taxes, rewarding merit (ending reservation), judicial reforms & ending corruption. These are basic building blocks to anything good. Unless, this is done-- nothing major would change. Sad part is: there is not 1 single political party/individual that can make these hard calls.

“To write well is to think clearly” - which is to say that by delegating more and more of your writing effort to AI, you are inviting the slow erosion of your own ability to think clearly.

Searching for mathematical truth can often lead to dead ends, and some of the best math comes from proving that someone was wrong. Failure is part of the process. quantamagazine.org/how-failu…

Chandrayaan-3 Mission: Here are the first observations from the ChaSTE payload onboard Vikram Lander. ChaSTE (Chandra's Surface Thermophysical Experiment) measures the temperature profile of the lunar topsoil around the pole, to understand the thermal behaviour of the moon's surface. It has a temperature probe equipped with a controlled penetration mechanism capable of reaching a depth of 10 cm beneath the surface. The probe is fitted with 10 individual temperature sensors. The presented graph illustrates the temperature variations of the lunar surface/near-surface at various depths, as recorded during the probe's penetration. This is the first such profile for the lunar south pole. Detailed observations are underway. The payload is developed by a team led by the Space Physics Laboratory (SPL), VSSC vssc.gov.in/spl.htmlin collaboration with PRL, Ahmedabad prl.res.in/prl-eng/

Our latest work in @Nature today: #AlphaDev discovered a new faster sorting algorithm that we open sourced to the main C library for all developers to use. This is just the beginning of AI being used to find many more efficiencies in code in future dpmd.ai/alphadev-tw

My daughter is interested in maths. For a homework at school I told her about the fundamental theorem of algebra and yesterday she came back wanting to know more about complex numbers. We went on to quaternions, rotations … I had to stop at the use of symmetries in physics :)
