I am looking for Primary School Teachers who have had some success in overcoming their mathematics teaching anxiety to share their experience with me for my PhD research project. If you know anyone who might fit the bill, please pass this on. 1drv.ms/b/c/84a74c92c2804a0d…
Are you an Australian primary teacher who has had some success dealing with your anxiety around teaching mathematics? If so, you could make a valuable contribution to research. Please click here to express interest in participating: forms.office.com/r/pwwVFWQNX… See flier for details.
Finally, the paper from Janet Metcalfe's "Learning from errors" project (I was on the advisory board) is out: bit.ly/3U47gxH. Main finding: teacher time spent on learning from errors produced better progress on the NY Regents' Algebra exam than explicit instruction.
I'll be presenting this session on Thursday and Friday at the same time. Hope to see you there if you're interested navigating the tension between explicit and inquiry-based approaches to teaching mathematics.

Very happy to be featured on the latest episode of the national Maths in Schools podcast, discussing how to build a dialogic classroom with @Allan_Douganmathematicshub.edu.au/unders…
Can we stop talking about the teaching and learning of mathematics as if it were the same as learning to read? The limited parallels break down too quickly for an argument to stand. #MTBoS
Hey everyone. Over the past two years I’ve created 175 short explicit teaching videos for primary aged children. Please check out my channel, some videos need to be refined but they’ve worked great as a Flipped Classroom model. #iteachmath#mtcoz#mtbosvimeo.com/primarymathlab
If the white triangle is 1, what other numbers do you see?
What if the white triangle was 1/2? Or 1/3?

New blog post with huge mathematical news: aperiodic monotiles exist!
What it means, and why it should inspire us all to keep exploring math, and why math has space for all of us.

Received a carton of Pattern Breakers, my first children's book! It's here!
This should be available through the website tomorrow! (Possibly US only at first, though I'll try to get it international as soon as I can!).
Can't wait to see it out in the world!

Should we systematise education as much as possible because that’s more efficient? Is that what the evidence suggests? Here’s the problem with that (and with over-extending the evidence base) 1/
Mathematics, physics, pattern.
Each pin moves in a circle. Although an individual pin's motion is boring, the emerging pattern is enjoyable to watch and contemplate.

Thoroughly enjoyed this talk between @Allan_Dougan and @DrJohnWest1 on what makes a good maths lesson. A great combination of summarising up-to-date research and sharing personal insights. aamt.edu.au/civicrm?civiwp=C…
