To Philip Matogo; A Friend Who Writes Me Forward
—By Kibirige Desire Edward
When doubt would darken every mile,
You carved the night with thought and style.
A friend whose words became the breeze,
That stirred my ink, revived my ease.

You read my soul, not just the lines,
But all the spaces tucked in signs.
You saw my voice before it spoke,
And warmed the fire before it woke.

Your praise was never thrown or thin;
It danced with truth, it came from kin.
You held my books like sacred art,
And gave each title beating heart.

From Bard Diaries to The Pearl-lit days,
You crowned my work with honest praise.
You didn’t just review: I swear,
You stood beside me, always there.
Webale nnyo, Phil
Not once, not twice, but time again,
You lifted me through loss and gain.
You made me feel like I belong,
Like every poem could be strong.
Webale nnyo, Phil
Still now you speak with gentle might,
You urge me higher, guide my success flight.
You say, “Your work's just begun,”
And point me boldly toward the sun.
Webale nnyo, Phil
No greater gift than faith like yours,
That walks beside me, not outdoors.
You plant your words in fertile ground,
And every verse grows truth profound.
Webale nnyo, Phil
So this I write, with humbled pen,
To honor more than just back then,
To praise the man who helps me rise,
The friend whose ink still clears my skies.
